Guest guest
Sat Nam Siri Ram Kaur, cold showers are supposed to be COLD. The colder the better. Here is the procedure as I learnt it: ++++++++++++ Ishnaan is the typical ‘Indian Cold Shower’. It is usually done in the early morning, right after getting up and before doing some yoga-exercises. Walk barefoot into the bathroom, undress and massage a little bit of almond oil all over your body. The oil is acting as a very light washing detergent and also is stimulating the blood circulation. Then step into the shower and turn on the COLD water – the colder, the better! Then start pouring the water using the hose over the limbs and fast massaging your body in the following sequence: right foot to the knee left foot to the knee right leg to the hip left leg to the hip right hand to the elbow left hand to the elbow right arm to the armpit left arm to the armpit belly chest right shoulder left shoulder face back DONE! While showering do some BOF (breath of fire) - it is really heating up. The whole shower won’t take longer than 2 - 5 min! After that, dry yourself with a towel, massage again just a little bit of almond oil to your skin and you are done. Don’t wash your head with cold water, esp. if you have longer hair. Hair should always be washed with normal warm water. But it is very energizing just combing with wet fingers over the head. ++++++++++++ One thing I also learnt from my teacher - screaming helps ;-) Good luck and blessings from Shanghai, Adarsh S. Guest guest
Use the Archives! I went to the messages page ( Kundaliniyoga/messages ) and typed in "Showers" in the search window. Then you'll want to hit the "Next" button to go further back into the Archives. Guest guest
I am curious - why should one not wash one's hair in cold water? I have very long hair and have been getting used to washing it in the cold shower, though mine aren't as cold as they probably should be because there is a temperature lock on it at 77 degrees (which I am trying to remove). Thanks! Laura Jürgen Laske <jlaske Kundaliniyoga Tue, 04 May 2004 14:44:32 +0800 Kundalini Yoga Ishnaan - Cold Showers Sat Nam Siri Ram Kaur, cold showers are supposed to be COLD.
