Guest guest
Sat Nam, I cannot recall specific recommendations for travelling, but I have a wonderful book (in German) called the 'Der-5-min-Yogi' - it gives plenty of small and short (Hatha-Yoga) exercises which you can do almost anywhere and anytime. Since I am also travelling quite a bit, I love to do some of them - stretching, flexing, tensing, relaxing the muscles. While driving a car I started chanting a mantra, esp. the triple-mantra (aad guray namay,...). Making enough rests (approx every 60 - 90 mins) and doing just a few spinal flexes, spinal twists or windmills in the fresh air really rejuvenates. When travelling I try to eat mostly fruits - esp. apples and bananas and drinking lots of water. When flying I love to do a meditation, closing the eyes, concentrating on the 3rd eye point, hands relaxed in the lap or even in Gyan Mudra and doing long deep breathing. Dale you are right - instead of listening to radio, watching movies, reading magazines or being angry over other lousy drivers it is much better to make the journey as a small spiritual experience. And actually it is easy! The main point is - if you want to do yoga, you will always find some space and time. Perhaps not for a beautiful Sat Kriya, but for some breathing, meditation or even flexing exercises. This is the main point about our yoga - CONSCIOUSNESS. Blessings and light from Shanghai, Adarsh S.
Guest guest
Sat Nam Dale, The one mantra that according to Gurunam is very good for travelers is : Ad Guray Nameh Jugad Guray Nameh Sat Guray Nameh Siri Guru Devay Nameh It creates a sphere of protection against all accidents and adversity. I don't know if it is exactly what you're looking for, but you could chant it or project it silently with hands in gyan mudra, or even just listen to the cd, while driving or in the plane. Love and Light Sat Atma
Guest guest
Sat Naam, Spinal twists in any variation are great to do while traveling. Flying can compress your spine, sitting for long periods tweaks it out. They are also detoxing for the organs, especially if you add BOF. Long, lazy forward bends are nice to elongate and relieve the spine, and give you a peaceful mental space. I do some version of a wakeup series every morning while on a trip (while still in bed! yum!), just in case I don't find time for a full set or yoga practice the rest of the day. A short energizing set like Strengthening the Aura or Kriya for Complete Health** (name?) takes only about 15-20 minutes if you rock n roll through it! Both will help keep your immune system from wearing down from travel stress and will make you feel happy too. Wahe Guru! ranjit k. ** Anyone know what/where this kriya officially is? I learned it as Yogi B's prescription for perfect mental & physical health: (up to) 3 min. of bow pose with BOF + (up to) 3 min. camel pose w/ BOF + (up to) 108 frogs >Jürgen Laske <jlaske >Kundaliniyoga >Kundaliniyoga >Kundalini Yoga Travel Kirya(s) ? >Mon, 24 May 2004 09:32:01 +0800 > >Sat Nam, > >I cannot recall specific recommendations for travelling, but I have a >wonderful book (in German) called the 'Der-5-min-Yogi' - it gives plenty of >small and short (Hatha-Yoga) exercises which you can do almost anywhere and >anytime. > >Since I am also travelling quite a bit, I love to do some of them - >stretching, flexing, tensing, relaxing the muscles. >While driving a car I started chanting a mantra, esp. the triple-mantra >(aad guray namay,...).
