Re: Kundalini Yoga screaming kriyas

Hey Ranjit,

can't say I know of anything like that. The Kriyas I know of that work

with anger, don't generally, allow the luxury of a simple scream. That

doesn't mean we haven't roared from time to time as part of a set that

will poke and provoke some anger as far of a "flow". For relief, what

works for me is running in place, lifting the knees high, while

punching with long strokes so that the elbows go way back while the

opposite fist goes all the way forward. The other thing that

provokes/initiates and heals that adrenal circuit is Triangle pose and

a specific variations of it. Go into Triangle (downward Dog) and lift

right arm and left leg and breathe long and deep for up to 3 minutes,

relax and then switch sides. Let the head and jaw stay loose. Make a

clean Triangle with straight lines. Then lay down on your back and

give yourself a full face massage beginning with the cheeks, then

going up the nose, around the eyebrows to temples and ears. When you

reach the jaw joint, you'll really want to tune into what it will

bring up. (At this point I would toy with the idea of a scream, a

yell, or something) Fully open your jaw in response to the very firm

and probing pressure from your thumbs. If you don't feel like

screaming, you are simply not pressing hard enough. You will truly be

confronted and the bodily situation (our whole psyche) which gave rise

to it [the anger, remember the anger] resituated. Now, when we feel

the true reflex to scream (or any urge to lash out in some way), it

will be much more organic. We are now being very present with our

body. We can let go at this point or and choose to let ourself BE with

the sensations through breath and full attention. Lately, I have been

letting the sensations go all the way through my brain rather than

screaming. It's another surrender of that monkey mind. There is this

whole other dimension to the "anger" situation.

Sat Nam,

Dharam

P.S. Know that when a person feels anger, they, in some way, may feel

violated. It is good to keep a journal. Doing some detective work is

necessary.
