Guest guest
http://www.sahej.com/Aarti.htm from Gurucharan ""the Naad of aarti is "the infinite power of God comes into lifes flow" So Arti is to witness the living presence of God in every movement of our life. From the divine stars to the grumpy dark spots we hit like a dharmic pothole. I always thought the beauty of Guru Nanak was to see all as god - directly - not as a belief, was the perfect arti and antidote for our natural earthy pull toward symbols , ritual and grasping. It is truly the passion of the heart with neutral mind that creates instead embodiment, ceremony and the transformation of surrender"" I (Dharam Singh) would add from http://www.sahej.com/Aarti_text.html ""At Jagannaath Puri, a famous pilgrimage center of the Hindus, Guru Nanak noticed that the priests were more interested in the rituals and elaborate arrangements rather than in their love for God. So he stepped outside the temple and burst into the following masterpiece. The Aarti Gagan mah thaal, Rav-chand Deepak baney Taarka mandal Janak Moti Dhoop maliaanlo Pavan chavaro karey Sagal Banrai phoolant jyoti Which means: The Sky is Your platter, The sun and moon are the `Deepaks' the lamps (lights), The Stars in the sky are the pearls, The `Dhoop' (Incense) is the fragrance, That the wind propels, The whole forest is Your flowers."" I've got this film on video entitled "Nanak Nam Jahaz Hai". It is an absolute classic. I am told there are people in India who have never seen any film but this one. The only bummer is it isn't subtitled. I hope somebody makes it available for us English, one day. (Maybe it's project I'll have to do.....) I want to understand this man a little better.
