Guest guest
Satnam I lost my yonger brother recently from a heroin overdose while i was in London doing my masters in design (i'm Lebanese). We were by far the most connected beings, and now that he's gone I'm sinking deeper into serious depression. He was a highly creative being, painter, and extremetly talented musician. We used to share the same gifts, but now that he's gone I can't seem to focus on anything. My throat ckakra seems to be partially congested and partially depleted, in fact my whole left side is congested, while my right side is depleted. Even though it is only AFTER his death that I started to wake up to the true gifts life had to offer... I've been practising Kundalini yoga for 2 months now, and I can feel its great benefits, but i'm facing a couple of issues I hoped u could help me with: 1. The method i'm using is Carol Carlson's "kundalini yoga for grace and strenght". I have no problem doing the flexibility exercises, nor breath of fire. But i've been told that this dvd is not for beginners, and might be harmful (especially when focusing your attention on the third eye). Is it true, even if i feel i feel stronger each time? (I also know she was Yogi Bhajan's student!) 2. I know that Kundalini yoga is addictive, and when I don't practice, I feel drowsy and sleep most of the day (and all night). I also feel seriously down and depressed. Is it necessary to practice each day? 3. I'm a smoker (minimum a pack per day), and I take anti-depressants, and I currently can't quit both. Should I give up on KY (even if I don't wish to)? 4. If any of you know a special meditation for lost loved ones, any kind of unharmful communication, please let me know. thank you in advance Odette _________ALL-NEW Messenger - sooooo many all-new ways to express yourself http://uk.messenger. Guest guest
Dear Odette, Please accept my condolences on the loss of your brother. You are no doubt overwhelmed with painful emotions and are trying to help yourself feel calmer. I have found in times of stress or overwhelming personal pain that it's best not to try and correct or realign everything at once. Now is not the time to force yourself to adhere to a rigorous KY schedule if your body is not up to it. You may need to sleep a great deal in order to heal your body and mind from the shock you have experienced. Be grateful your body is able to sleep and rest at this time. Have you consulted a doctor or other health practitioner about your smoking and antidepressants? Perhaps an outside medical person would be able to help you with this concern. Again, think moderation. As to Carol Carlson's KY - I'm not familiar with it but doubt it could be dangerous for you. Sometimes people want to have an aura of mystery and exclusiveness about their practice and arbitrarily want to place some KY "off limits" for various reasons. If it helps you, keep doing it. If it makes you sleepy, then sleep. If it causes you distress or discomfort, then stop for a while and resume at a later date. I don't mean to sound pompous or preachy. I am sharing what I have learned from my own personal crises with pain and difficult life circumstances. If this helps you, I am grateful. No, Do the 4 part breath every time you wish to smoke until you have no more urge. It takes time but it works.
