Guest guest
hello all, ive been struggling a lot lately with trying to do yoga on a regular basis. Maybe its because i never really had a solid routine to begin with. Ive always practiced yoga off and on but would really like to always be "on." I really do enjoy it...it allows me to explore myself and enrich my life with beauty and my life seems really depressed and not going anywhere right now. I have WAAAAAAY too much time on my hands but still cant find the room to discipline myself. I think if i start out small then i can go big...i just need to get into the habit of practicing regularly. Any suggestions would be gladly accepted. Guest guest
Heah David, You answer your own question. Start small. Commit to something every day, 5 minutes. Maybe, start with a cold shower in the morning doing BOF or do 26 frogs, 40 crow squats....or do breathing Sitali Breath 52 times.... P.S. Stop beating yourself up. You are not the only one who has trouble with motivation. Try working with your navel- there you go! Stretch Pose every morning. Remember we're all in this together. Keep Up! Guest guest
Dear David, I think if i start out small then i can go big.. That's it! Start tomorrow. How about a few spinal flexes, leg lifts and 11 minutes of one meditation. SA TA NA MA? Or whatever you decide that takes about 30 minutes. Report back to us in 40 days. The day you start write us and tell us when 40 days is so we can be expecting your letter. And of course supporting you along the way. Guest guest
Someone please provide me with a link which will tell me how to accomplish 'breath of fire'. Thanks, Crow
Guest guest
You put the "light" in enlightenment, ranjitk. Although this practice has restored my sanity and sense of hope in a mere 9 months, it is encouraging to know I'll be levitating in just 9.4 years. That will certainly make those frog poses easier. Thank you for your lilting wisdom. Sat Nam.
Guest guest
Sat Naam and THANK YOU Linda! I personally have no problems with being a slacker yoga bum, but then I totally beat myself up for NOT beating my self up about it! ha ha kidding... Remember, this is a practice. Life takes practice! Self-discipline, Yoga, painting, computing, kayaking, keyboarding, blah blah blah, everything you do takes, or took, some practice at it at some point. And (forgive me for stating the obvious) you begin as a beginner. I have heard said that those who do yoga are considered beginners for at least the first 10 years of practice. That's a lot of work, hungh? BUT THEN at midnight on your 10-year yoga anniversary, you spontaneously achieve super powers of levitation and omniscience and earn the right to use your yogic siddhis to shock and amaze your friends at parties. HA HA! kidding again... ahem... One of the countless reasons that I love Kundalini yoga is that it is so powerful, you can do so little and get so much out of it. Like whenever we add Breath of Fire to a hatha yoga asana, we multiply the benefits of that pose by... uh... 16 times? 22? (Anyone know exactly?) There are so many powerful, energizing, Kundalini-raising kriyas and exercises that you can do in only 3 little minutes and reap infinite amazing benefits! And, because even that is sometimes too much to get done in one day, we also are given simple exercises that take only ONE minute, some that accomplish huge tasks like giving us new energy or repairing the entire nervous system. And on those days you can't spare a single minute, you can just say the mantra "Wahe Guru!" and go to lunch -- it takes a third of a split second, and it is pure yoga, man. One of my fellow yoga teacher buddies calls Kundalini yoga "the fast track to enlightenment" and this is actually a big reason why Yogi Bhajan decided he needed to teach us crazy over-programmed onthego fastfoodconveniencejunkyworkaholic spirituallychallenged western householders this particular system of yoga instead of Hatha.
