Guest guest
I've been doing Breath of Fire at the end of cold shower for 1-2 mins. I put my hands over my head in prayer pose while water is running all over my body. ¿ are there any adverse effects for doing this? like a shock betwen heat and cold? because I feel great after the shower. Sounds like this is working well for you. Yogi Bhajan used to have us take long cold showers. The only thing I would add is to wear underwear and not have the cold water directly hit the genitles. For men the genitles need to be protected from cold water and for women the thighs need to be protected. Thanks for adding where you are from. Guest guest
Dear Gururattan : Thank you for your response ; I have one more question. >Yogi Bhajan used to have us take long cold showers. >The only thing I would add is to wear underwear and not >have the cold water directly hit the genitles. For men >the genitles need to be protected from, cold water and >for women the thighs need to be protected. What is the specific reason for men, to protect the genitles, because I've read in some water therapies the use of cold water in this area, to refresh and relieve the congestion of some of the internal organs, specially the bowel. Guest guest
Dear Carlos, I can only imagine that water isn't very cold in Mexico. I can guarantee that if you tried exposing your genitalia to the cold water in Buffalo, NY or Fairbanks, AK, there is a pretty good possibilty you wont be able to find them for a while. Our own bodies know when it is time to cover up and protect. I imagine this movement has value and would relieve congestion. It is the rapid change in temperature that is to be avoided. The wearing of shorts during Ishnaan (cold shower) allows enough of a gradient in temp so that the meridians and nerves in the groin that regulate mineral balance are not upset. So, I would say do things gradually and listen to your body. In the book "Taoist Secrets of Love: Cultivating Male Sexual Energy" Mantak Chia describes techniques using strong "pulling" massage of the testicles while lying in a hot tub of water. This seems to me a little less jarring to the sytem while still relieving congestion. This book make be difficult to find. I found a copy for a friend on Ebay. Also, what part of Mexico do you live it? What elevation is Torreon at? Sat Nam, Dharam Singh Millis, MA USA P.S. Guest guest
Hello Dharam, Thank You, and Gururattan for sharing your knowledge. I've found answers in this group that I wouldn't have found in many books. I live in Torreon (north Mexico) and it's at 1,200 meters approx. over sea level, .... and also it's true that water isn´t very cold, compared to what it is in Buffalo NY, I've been in Madison WI during summer time and water was as cold as it is here in January. So, I'll keep the point of doing things gradually and listening to my my body. Sat Nam, Carlos Giacoman Torreon, Coah. Mexico P.S.
