Guest guest
Kind Teachers & fellow Students, I am on 3rd week of 40 day mantra, and I have also started to try the Sodarshan Chakra Kriya Meditation after it. My goodness! It has taken me more than a week to co-ordinate my breathe and counting to complete ONE ROUND successfully. How do people do this for 31 minutes? not to mention 2 and 1/2 hours? I am determined to master this, and I figure I have the rest of my life to try to do so - however as I am without a teacher... maybe one of you kind souls will have a word of wisdom. Maybe I am pumping too vigorously, & too slowly. Is it terrible that a little air 'finds its way' into my lungs at the last pumps? can I just plug both nostrils to prevent this? Many thanks, Niminy Cricket(Mrs)
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Niminy Cricket:-) First...Congratulations on your 3rd week of 40-day Mantra. One day at a time...one breath at a time. As for the Sodarshan Kriya Meditation...I was introduced to this Meditation a couple of weeks ago in Yoga class, and decided to include it in my daily practice...Wow!!! After 2 weeks, I still can do it for only 2-3 min BUT...I am NOT giving up. Yogi Bhajan said..."There is no time, no place, no space and no condition attached to this mantra. Each garbage pit has its own time to clear. If you are going to clean your own garbage, you can clean it as fast as you can, or as slowly as you want." Need I say more? Be gentle with yourself. Again, one day at a time...one breath at a time...it's a winning combination. And always remember...you are never Alone. Humbly... Jai Jagdesh Kaur Ottawa Canada Post your free ad now! Maybe a long rest between meditations followed with long deep breathing to fill your pranic cavity would help. Then when you start the Sodarshan you will be more relaxed and have more oxygen.Or do some Breath of Fire. I, too have been practicing this Kryia, and it is a tough one!Do not cover both nostrils!!! If you can do it for 2-3 min. comfortably, then do it for 2-3min. and stop! You can gradually build your time as you feel comfortable. Those that do it for extended periods are people that have been practicing this one for YEARS. Love and Light, Nirmal Kaur

Guest guest
Sat Nam, It is easier to hold the breath in for the full number of pumps when you do some pranayama, yoga, breath of fire before. You also need to actually "suspend" the breath. You breath in long and deep and keep pulling in the breath (will probably be several parts at the end) until the clavicals, upper chest locks in. You will feel it. Then it is easier to hold the breath in. Something shifts at the last part of the inhale and then you can sit there with the breath retained. Try it, til you get the experience. Also pump as inwardly as possible, avoiding big movements with the stomach muscles. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur San Diego, CA
Guest guest
Sat Nam, I'm on day 31 of Sodarshan Kriya 31mins. I do Sodarshan at night, sunset or before bed. Needless to say, I'm having trouble sleeping because of the energetic effects of Sodarshan. 2hrs after i do 11mins of the meditation against burntout of rejuenation, (8 part sniff inhale-exhale, eyes looking at tip of nose, knuckles together at chest, tips of thumbs at base of ring finger), because it makes you sleepy. Question: 1) By doing two meditations in the evening, am I weakening the transformational process of Sodarshan or any other meditation for that matter? 2)Sometimes i do the meditation at sunset, sometimes at 9pm or 10 pm, due to schedule. Ideally, it should be everyday at the same time, but is it possible to keep the thread and have the internal shift of a meditation by changing the time two hours? Sometimes it is hard to get away from the world for a little alone time.
