Guest guest
Sat Nam, I have two questions about doing navel sets: 1. Is it preferrable to always have the spine flat on the ground in stretch pose doing abdominal intensive exercises? What to do if you cannot keep the lower back flat on the ground, reduce the exercise time or just let it curl up a bit? 2. In some exercises it is said to do breath of fire having the abdominal muscles contracted, e.g. with legs and head lifted. I cannot do the BoF pulling in the navel under those circumstances.... Is there an alternative BoF in such case? Regards, Rama Singh

What to do if you > cannot keep the lower back flat on the ground, reduce the exercise > time or just let it curl up a bit? Proabably reduce the time. The important thing is not to strain the muscles in the lower back. > 2. In some exercises it is said to do breath of fire having the abdominal muscles contracted, e.g. with legs and head lifted. Does it say that the muscles should be contracted or you find that this position contracts the muscles impeding the Bof F? I don't recall any instructions saying that we should contract the muscles. If it is easier for you, do long deep breathing. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur San Diego, CA
