Guest guest
Gururattan Kaur and all, So after almost two weeks, I've been able to recover and sleep somewhat full nights. However, as soon as I started doing yoga again (meditation, breathing, stretching, poses), this (kundalini) energy started rising in me. Again, last night I woke up feeling this energy build-up. I immediately got up and started walking around before this build-up would cause the same electric shock + heart spasm as it did last time. So now... I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I don't want to have sleep problems; however, I would also like to continue yoga because I seek the mental well being and health improvements. How could these insane energies start within me.... after only A COUPLE OF DAYS OF YOGA??? Also, how many of you experience kundalini uprisings (and how often)? Gururattan Kaur, how often do you have kundalini awakenings? ... and also, to what degree (do you allow the energy to flow through all Chakra levels)? --Matt P.S. I just want to safely practice yoga. Guest guest
Dear Matt, Thank you very much for your update. I must say you are a very special case. Most people practice for years to get any sense of movement. And many of us experience progressive awakening of consciousness without these big blasts of energy. But then times are different too. There are going to be more spontaneous Kundalini risings because awakening is on the planetary agenda. > So after almost two weeks, I've been able to recover and sleep somewhat full nights. * So this is good. You know what to do. You move so the energy can move through you and into the Earth instead of just inside you. Also try to do elephant walk. Hold on to your ankles and walk around your place like that. And experiment -- it is different for everyone. > So now... I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I don't want to have sleep problems; however, I would also like to continue yoga because I seek the mental well being and health improvements. * you are going to have to experiment and find out what works for you. Maybe more frog pose and squats and less sitting meditation. Go light for right now. It will balance out with time. We just can't say how long. We are not in charge of this energy. > How could these insane energies start within me.... after only A COUPLE OF DAYS OF YOGA??? * Sit and ask the question and LISTEN. You will get an answer if you listen. Then let us know. This is a very special time of awakening. It is good to take advantage and learn some very basic spiritual lessons and cultivate some of the essential tools. Ask and listen is one very important one. Also you might shift your attitude toward this energy. It may feel really insane to you, but it is the energy of consciousness and it is waking you up. Perhaps simply loving it will help shift it. Bless it. Thank it. And bless yourself and your life. Gratitude has a way of shifting things is ways we can't even imagine possible. Talk to the energy, befriend it. This is your power. > Also, how many of you experience kundalini uprisings (and how often)? Probably not very many, but I would be interested in knowing too. > P.S. I just want to safely practice yoga. Then that is your prayer. Ask what is safe for you and listen to the answer. Follow your intuition. You know. Guest guest
Sat Nam Matt, Gururattan is "right on time" with her suggestions to "Sit and ask the question and LISTEN". This dialogue may deepen on it's own, however your attention may waver before you get to a place of fulfillment. I say this from the perspective of fellow Male. Back when I was your age and my 'BIG SHIFT" was upon me, I needed just a couple of deep emotional releases (crying like baby) through bioenergetic therapy before I came to a place where 'asking myself a question' had some power and wouldn't have felt completely dry. I am speaking this way because you finally mentioned "heart spasms". In my experience what needs to happen when our physical heart is flipping out and protesting, is that it is time to really take a break and really FEEL our life and the part of our being that often takes a back seat in our need to keep up with work or school. I also want to point out that at this time in my life I had already left college and was "on the road" in the Kerouac sense, and so I was far from the pressures of the "rat race" ( http://www.sahej.com/rat_race.html ). It was a blissful time for me, in terms of energy and heart and all the things that living, loving and liberty is supposed to be about. I was even nicknamed "Fire on the Mountain" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B000002VCV001005/1/002-9055610-9275\ 267 )....wild times! However, I wasn't on any particular track toward a future. I was functioning but I wasn't focused and certainly not feeling CAPABLE as I was unable to get past certain dialogues within myself. It was until I met and sat down with Yogi Bhajan in '86, that I received the "Master's Touch". He gave me one simple exercise that actually, finally, completed a flow of energy that been "wanting" since I first time I practiced Kundalini yoga in '77. One can easily focus on my execution of his suggestion but there is a whole 'nuther dimension at play when one sits before a Master that is very aligning on levels that are beyond our conscious grasp and description. It's like he IS a temple. There is a presence. (I recall the words of the Wailers "a mighty God is a living Man" from "Get Up Stand Up"). In another email, at some time, I will fully describe the exercise and my experience of what Yogiji gave me to do that so changed me. YB's phrase "Content, Contained and Continuous" says it all. It wasn't until I met him that I got to "contain" the power and feel the "continuity" within myself. Up until then, my sense of continuity was coming from the world around me...through my sensitivity and was always subject to conditions that were beyond my choosing on control. He is the Master of Kundalini.....there is no denying that (not meaning to be exclusionary).... I want to know what he knows and am working on it. His insight blew me away! The information and answers are around us all the time, if we can tap into it. Matt, I am guessing you are in school, looking at the email address, and that what you least need at this time in your life is something that will make it difficult to be still, to say the least, and finish your schooling. You certainly don't want to take ten years, if you don't have to, to get fully "baked". Writing Yogi Bhajan is an option or contacting directly Gururattan Kaur or Gurucharan Singh here in Massachusetts is something I recommend you do. Feel free to call me (email me offlist) for more details. The key, as Gururattan has already said, is to love the energy, and in my experience the first positive step toward "loving the energy" was giving my heart a break and putting my head in someone else's hands for an hour a week (I can give you her number also, if she isn't retired) Be well, Dharam Singh P.S. I recommend doing only Nabhi Kriya and other Navel work for the next few months. Kirtan Kriya (http://kundaliniyoga.org/kyt15.html) is also a great help to sort things out but in order to experience some gratitude which will immediately begin to transform your perception of this experience, Wahe Guru meditations are very important. There are many of them. Call me for one I think you might enjoy. Also, share with us your birthday as your numerology will give me/us a sense for your "landscape" and what you're working with. matt wrote: > Gururattan Kaur and all, > > So after almost two weeks, I've been able to recover and sleep > somewhat full nights.
