Guest guest
Sat Nam David! The Upanishads speak of the divinized body of the yogin. It possesses all kinds of paranormal powers especially shape shifting. In Yoga tradition the shape shifting ability of great adepts (siddhas) is well known. The paranormal powers are seen simply as manifestations of Shakti (Divine Power). The great power (siddhi) is liberation; the blissful union of Shiva and Shakti. The Siddhis come naturally to those practicing Sadhana but the attitude that they not be cultivated or used comes from the idea that they may serve the cause of delusion or maya. The powers will come to those seekers and practitioners who are intent on union or Yoga. They arise after a time in those who are devoid of karmic traits. (Upanishads.) To attempt to develop siddhis as a main reason for the practice of Yoga is not believed to be the "yogic way" which may be some of what you are perceiving from others. This seems to be more into the physic realm. Physics may read or pick up partial messages and without the development of intuition may become confused. The practice of all Yoga whether Kundalini or Hatha Yoga is for the same reason, samadhi-self realization. Along the way we pick up powers because our bodies, physical and subtle, are becoming very strong and radiant. Siddhis are a byproduct of union (Yoga) not necessarily the main reason to practice. Yogi Bhajan spoke of this and gave a set to enhance intuition as opposed to physic ability. I will look for it to send along or perhaps someone else can post it. Blessings of Union!
