meditation for relinquishing control

Sat Nam Yogis and Yoginis,

Lately I have been working very long (14-16 hr.) days, and I find I've been

micromanaging myself. As Virgos are apt to do, I've been living my life by a

to-do list, doing my best to "stay in control" of my environment and ultimately,

my sanity.

This past week, however, I have been receiving lessons from the Universe on

letting go of control -- in the form of a kitchen flood, a friend who gave away

my feline companion in the States without notice, an administrator circulating

my Social Security Number on district-wide memo and a journalism student who

"lost" my set of keys (room, house, car) for several hours.

After doing the meditation to release inner anger over several of the incidents,

I've come to realize that all I can do is to release control over the things I

cannot control, and to trust the Universe.

Can someone please recommend the best meditation for reinforcing trust in the

Universe/God and giving up the desire to control the outcome of things?

Thanks and Sat Nam.

Dear Jai Gopal Kaur,

* This in itself is not "bad". The ability to stay focused, to plan and to

manage time is a very useful tool to deal with life. The trick is to relax

while doing your tasks so you can be energetically efficient.

* This are things you do not have control of and reacting to them just

stressed you out and uses valuable energy that you need for the rest of your

life.

* Very good idea. We all can use KY to release negative emotions.

I've come to realize that all I can do is to release control over the

things I cannot control, and to trust the Universe.

* This is the most sane path.

* You certainly have a right to have your preferences. It is attachement to

the outcome that gets you in trouble. Desire of a certain outcome does put

energy into it and acts like a prayer to help direct the outcome. The trick

is when to let go and let the universe arrange things. For this you need to

know how to surrender. To surrender you need to know how to trust. To trust

you have to have something to trust.

So the best meditation might be to connect with an experience in yourself

and your inner awareness that you can trust -- your heart beat, your breath,

the neutral space in your head, the expanded neutral space that includes

your heart. You do this after your meditation, in the stillness and

silence. After 1 minute breath would be good. Or sa ta na ma. Or another

pranayama. The brainwave meditation is good too. Just be with what is

always there and stay with it until you can feel that you can trust it to

always be there for you.

How about going through your KY books and trusting yourself to find the

right meditation?

Sat Nam,
