Greetings, I have been practicing KY for about 3 months now. In

the morning I sometimes take a hot shower to cleanse myself and then

do a cold rinse for 3 minutes after. Is the hot shower preceding the

cold shower OK? Thanks for any info. Sat Nam, Floyd

That is perfectly fine. if you have muscle ache try this; cold shower

alternate with hot, each one for two minutes. Always start with cold and

finish with cold if you are doing this alternate thing for 20-30 minutes.

Hi Floyd,

I'm wondering if that's OK, Yogi Bhajan once told that it is like when you want

to eat healthy, you start your dinner with a Big Mac and ends with healthy

vegetables. Of course it's always good and healthy to eat vegetables, like have

a cold shower, but preferably do not mix it with the hot shower first like

eating the Big Mac first. Unless you use the hot shower to become more and more

aquanted with the cold.

I'm practising Ishnaan (cold shower technique) in the morning every day for

almost 3 years now and I'm addicted to it!! In the evening I only do a hot

shower, to free my body from the daily sweat and to enter my bed in a clean

state, the cold shower in the morning really wakes me up and alert my senses,

especially in wintertimes!!

This takes me back...when I had an Ashram in Nebraska (in the

70's)our house did not have a shower so we would ease our way into a

cold cold bathtub and after all of the huffing and puffing we would

emerge from the tub awake and ready for sadhana.

Nowadays my sadhana isn't what it used to be but, my cold

showers aren't either....I found that my back would spasm if the

water was too cold. So I temper the cold with some warm and it is a

lot better.

When I was living at Maha Deva Ashram in Tucson, we had a stand

up pool we would jump into, it wasn't ice cold but it prepared us for

our morning sadhana. We were about 40+ people with only 2 showers so

we did what we could with what we had and the ashram would run pretty

smoothly.

In the Name of the Cosmos which prevails through everyBODY and

the Holy Name that holds the world.

Humbly yours,

Siri Chand Singh aka Robert D Ashton
