Guest guest
Dear Marina & Daughter, Please remember that labour is a natural occurance for people to be born. Yes there is discomfort, and in some rare cases excruciating discomfort, but with proper preparation a natural experience can be a holy experience even with the discomfort. Unless your daughter needs to have an induced labour I see no need for an epidural! With a mantra and meditative relaxation combined with a coaching method such as Lamaze, one can "ride the wave of each contraction"as it happens. One must FACE the feeling with calm and release while concentrating on the mantra, or husband's loving face, or even a dot on the hospital ceiling, or whatever is focus of choice. When fear of the discomfort enters the picture THAT is when discomfort takes on the face of PAIN. Knowledge is freedom from pain. Have your daughter read all about labour and birth, have her walk daily ( if approved by the Doctor) to improve quickness of birth. And eat 1/4 cup yougurt every hour to relax Braxton-Hicks contractions(false labour contractions that are practice contractions one needs to have). Of course, each must do as one wishes in life; I have had 4 children w/o epidural and highly recommend a natural gift to start your daughter and her child off to a great start. Please keep us posted.
