Guest guest
Dear Gururattan Kaur, I have been doing your spinal exercises with excellent results for quite a while. One morning though, trying to get out of bed, I felt like my back was going to break in two places and wouldn't hold me. I have been to the chiropractor twice, each time feeling well, yet the following morning the same problem will be back. Naturally, without insurance I cannot afford too many trips to the chiropractor. Question: Not being able to perform any exercises at this time - will it be enough just doing breathing exercises and mantras? Fondly, Ruth
Guest guest
Dear Ruth, > Question: Not being able to perform any exercises at this time - will it be enough just doing breathing exercises and mantras? I don't know if that will be "enough" but it will certainly help. You need to ask the chiro what exercises you can do. This depends on what is really going on. Perhaps you could do isometric stretching. The back often goes out because the muscles are not strong enough to support the bones. Even internal movements would help keep the muscles tonified. Are you getting enough calcium? Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam Ruth, Although you did not address this question to me, here are a few of my thoughts. Interesting theory by John Sarno on most back pain that has resonated with my own issues with back issues, almost identical to what you describe, is the mind, body connection. To put it succinctly, the body is used by the mind as a defense system against repressed emotions. So what you need to do is become a very good emotion detective and find out what you are suppressing that is bothering you. I find sometimes it is quite small, but very meaningful, perhaps a resentment against a family member or some situation, that you "are not suppossed to feel" (i.e. an ailing parent) so you do not acknowledge it. Once you address it, the pain ususally dissovles. Interesting you say "my back wouldn't hold me", which could be taken on a psychological level, do you not feel supported by something, someone, financial support? or perhaps you feel overwhelmed and would like someone to support you, hold you. On a purely physcial level bathing in very hot water with epsom salts and baking soda really does seem to suck the inflammation. Just enough? Breathing exercises and mantras? Each one stands on its own as healing. Breathing, breath into the area of pain, concentrating on a slow exhale, and the thought" release," sending either warmth or coolness into the area, this is your preference. There are kriyas that do not require much movement, just sitting and arm placement. I would concentrate on meditations to open your subconscious and reveal what is bothering you. Be Happy. Be Well. Guest guest
Thank you Gururattan Kaur. I'll check with the chiro. You're right, I'm not really taking much calcium. Thank you. Guest guest
--- Ruth - I have used Louise Hays' (book - You Can Heal Your Life) concept that back pain has to do with lack of support to work with many clients and clear the mental-emotional cause of their pain. The back supports us; when it cannot do this without pain, we get to look at support issues. Meditate on where you do not feel supported in your life or where you do not support yourself. When you discover this root cause and change it, your back pain will resolve. Guest guest
Dear Soaring Eagle, definitely worth looking into. Nothing surprises me any more. Linda said something along the same line and I think there is something to it. I did have an emotional set back. Thank you.
