Sat Nam Rebecca,

heartily welcome to the list!

According to the yogic teachings the color white is supporting and

'clearing' the aura of the humans. Also it helps improving your radiance

and presence. You can feel this if you join for example a group sadhana. If

you are sensitive enough, you can also feel a difference on your own. The

effect is mostly on a level not visible for the eyes. This is also the

reason why you can close the eyes for meditation :-)

A head cover serves several purposes:

- it 'protects' the crown chakra

- it warms the head (as simple as this !)

- the mild pressure on the skull is often regarded as supportive or helps

you focusing for meditations

The effects of white clothes and head cover is working always, but you

might be more sensitive in realizing this in the Amrit Vela (ambrosial

hours). For white tantric events white clothes and a headcover are a must!

Wishing you a pleasant sadhana, have fun with it!

Sending blessings and light from Shanghai,

Adarsh S.

PS: on our website www.yogatex.com you can find natural white linen clothes

and cotton head covers esp. for KY

Hello, Rebecca,

Welcome to the list. And congradulations on doing yoga yourself from a

video, books, and this list. I am also doing that.

re wearing a turban:

I was told that if you wear a turban, or any other head covering which

is tight around the head, you are stimulating nerves in that area.

I do seem to feel a difference. I don't have a turban, but a piece of

cloth a friend brought me from the Golden Temple. I wear it always

when I do yoga and sadhana. I wrap it tightly around my head. If I

feel very scattered or anxious I also wear it, and I feel calmer.

Also re the white color, I agree that you should try it out and see

how you feel. I try to wear white cotton doing yoga and I feel better

for it.

best,

Kartar Kaur

ps Keep asking questions. If some question doesn't get answered, don't

feel ignored, just re-post it. I think people on here come and go, so

sometimes a question may get missed. But then it is answered, and

people are ever so helpful and supportive!
