Guest guest
Greetings all, I was wondering if the not mixing rule pertains to KY mantras. I sometimes like to repeat a mantra silently while at work or somtimes at hapkido class. What about repeating a KY mantra while doing Tai Chi Chuan? Thanks for your input in advance. Guest guest
Sat nam... While we are on the topic of not mixing KY with other things I had to bring this up and get everyone's feedback... There is a Japanese Kundalini organization called Kundalini Japan and this is the org. that supposedly "represents" Kundalini in Japan, and has many books publsihed. KundaliniYoga.org has a link to this site. Anyway, head of the org. who also is a proponent of Kunalini in Japan and of course has courses and workshops etc..But here is my concern, in his homepage and publication he specifically mentiones that Kundalini that he teaches is his own method that he came up with mixing Chinese medicine and other methods...I translated an excerpt from his website: " I aggressively mixed Chinese methods with Yoga and came up with original "Breath of Fire"... this guy even copy righted the term "breath of fire" ..... >From the understanding that Yogi Bhajan's Kundalini has to stay pure...I am just wondering if this is even permissible and what is the affiliation of Kundalini yoga.org with Kundalini Japan since you have a link to this org. And the site mentions Yogi Bhajan's name on the front page, and is the place all the martial artists in japan go to learn Kundalini...it's weird in Japan, Kundalini Yoga is popular among the martial aritists...Moreover this org. has become the face of Kundalini Yoga in Japan...I am just conerned that Yogi Bhajan's teachings would not be disemminated properly in Japan and alot of people would be practicing BOF in a wrong way taught by kundalini japan.... http://www.kundalini.jp/k-jp.htm Mari / Japan Take Mail with you! Guest guest
Doesn't it depend on what you mean by other things? I came to KY through the book Breathwalk (which I highly recommend). It is a combination of aerobic walking/KY exercises/pranayama exercises. The book, written by Yogi Bhagan and Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, calls for the mental or whispered repetition of Sa Ta Na Ma or Wa Hay Goo Roo synchronized with the steps. I hardly think aerobic walking originated in KY. - BS
Guest guest
Dear Mari Thank you for your observations. If I may quote from the Kundaliniyoga.org links page: "These links are representative of what is available elsewhere on the web. Although some of the Kundalini Yoga sites have no connection with Yogi Bhajan, we found them to be of interest and have included them." Also the following disclaimer: "These web site links are listed as a convenience to our visitors. If you use these links, we take no responsibility and give no guarantees, warranties or representations, implied or otherwise, for the content or accuracy of these third-party sites." Unlike some other organizations, we do not attempt to censor the work of others. Freedom of expression is an Aquarian trait - it is up to the individual to assess the benefits offered by each site. A link is certainly not an endorsement. Sat Nam Gordon > > While we are on the topic of not mixing KY with other > things I had to bring this up and get everyone's > feedback... Guest guest
is it in general okay to use mantras at almost-any time, almost-any place? also, four-part breath: i like to practice when i'm lying in bed, going to sleep -- my clock ticks so i can count seconds by it :-). is that okay? thanks and sat nam! (the original question (about mixing) was such a simple one, yet it has certainly engendered a lot of discussion! isn't that amazing?!) sue
