Guest guest
Sat Nam, dear Jan, the words 'replace', 'add', 'change' or 'drop' are absolute NO-NO's for any kriya in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan ! The kriya's are very old, sacred, proven for functionality and we as teachers have to make sure, that the students (as well as ourselves) are doing them exactly as they are taught. There is no room for 'gambling' around or mixing in other stuff from other traditions, sets or kriya. After tuning in with the Adi Mantra until you tune out with 3 long Sat Nam's - keep the teachings pure. The only thing you are allowed to do: - reduce the times or repetitions if you can't keep up - occasionally build in small rests after the exercises to 'feel' and incorporate the energy (if not mentioned otherwise in the descriptions) - replace difficult asana's with easier ones, when they are indicated (e.g. I recall one set, where 5 min wheel pose can be substituted by 5 min table pose - don't ask me for the set :-) - ease asana's for students with certain disabilities (e.g. do spinal flex on a higher pillow, a meditation bench or even a chair, when the student can't sit in Easy Pose) - make a pee-rest :-) Besides that - follow the instructions as exactly as possible, move, sweat, breath, meditate and enjoy the benefits of the sacred science of KY. One advice (from my own 'painful' experience) - if a set or kriya has some difficulties for you - that's the one showing you your weak points. Go for it until it feels easy :-o The next challenge is waiting - for sure..... Sending blessings and light from Shanghai, Adarsh S.
Guest guest
Sat Nam Adarsh, I have one more question: is it ok if I do two sets of kriya in one sadhana round, so eg surya kriya followed by nabhi kriya, or would that be a bit to much? Blessings, Jan from Belgium Jürgen Laske <jlaske wrote: Sat Nam, dear Jan, the words 'replace', 'add', 'change' or 'drop' are absolute NO-NO's for any kriya in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan ! Guest guest
Sat Nam Jan, hmmm - what do you want to achieve with doing two kriya's ?! Build up stamina? Then do the Sat Kriya workout or the Nabhi Kriya with the original, long times or other more challenging kriyas. To my understanding each kriya has a specific effect, which should be integrated with the relaxation afterwards. Therefore a second kriya does not necessarily fit into the practice. Up to my knowledge it is not 'forbidden' to do it - but I simply would not do it.... Sending blessings and light, Adarsh S.
