Guest guest
Sat Nam, dear Ahmad, you are not alone suffering from depression and anxiety. I just want to share some of my notes, which I have gathered dealing with people having anxiety / depression. Have a look and give it a try: Against fear and anxiety all exercises are good, which help you being 'grounded'. Eg.: walking, tree-pose, frogs, sat kriya, corpse pose, etc. According to KY, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicin is Fear / Anxiety connected with the kidneys therefore it is important to drink enough water all over the day. Also important is salt (for the kidneys-functions) and the taste of salt (starts a neuro-chemical reaction in the brain for the balancing of kidney function). It is NOT necessary to eat excessive amounts of salt just a lit bit for the taste. According to Chinese medicine, a lot of Qi (life-energy) goes into the kidney-meridian in the evening at the time of sunset. The Qi is moving every 2 hours into other main meridians. Eating cucumber slices with little salt in this time-slot is very productive the effect is then said to be 10 x stronger than at other times of the day. The kidneys also stay in contact with the lungs especially breath of fire is beneficial. To make the kidneys more 'robust' it is very advisable to do Ishnaan (Indian cold water therapy showering with cold water in the morning). To have best effect it is good to stick to exercises (kriya, Ishnaan, diet, mantra) for at least 40 days. Kriya to 'dissolve fears' Selfknowledge #32 1.Lay on belly, arms behind back, lift chest and arms up as high as possible 108 x 2.Bow pose, hold ankles with hands, roll forth and back 108 x 3.Sit in rock pose, hands in prayer pose, bend forward, stretch out arms 108 x 4.Lay on back, jump like pop-corn, move all body parts, FAST 2,30 min 5.Lay on belly, inhale sitali pranayam --> cobra, exhale through nose --> down 1,30 min 6.Corpse pose, relax 11 min Meditation against anxiety EP, inhale, hold breath, mentally chant at least 3 times, then exhale, inhale, repeat 'Har Har Wha Hay Guru' 3x 11 min Har project to Navel point Har project to Heart center Wha project to Throat center Hay project to 3rd Eye Guru - project to Crown center sit in silence 1 min Yogi Bhajan has given this meditation as an antidote for anxiety. Advice: 1. do the kriya daily for 40 days 2. do Ishnaan in the morning 3. chant the mantra also while daytime (in the car, while working, etc.) 4. eat a piece cucumber with some salt in the evening Hope this helps! Guest guest
Sat Nam. I am witnessing more and more people freaking out from anxiety. Friends who were taking Prozac, Zoloft, finding it is no longer working, others finding anxiety attacking them for the first time....is this the sign of the times.? Planetary influences? Many of my friends do not practice Kundalini Yoga, so I am limited to observation and listening, which is enervating. In the process of trying to uplift others....what is the best armor to protect my electro- magnetic field to hold steadfast? Blessings to All, Linda Mail - Find what you need with new enhanced search. http://info.mail./mail_250
Guest guest
Sat Nam, I have noticed this more and more also. The fact is, these times require deep healing and transformation. Many people don't take that seriously, or try to ignore it. Eventually that catches up to you. Here in the west this plays out in a very direct psychological way. Generation X, especially, I've noticed, is relunctant to bite the bullet in this respect. It is because they are the Pluto in Virgo generation. The opposite sign, Pisces, is where they must compensate and grow. And with Pisces, either you develop a deep personal dharma or your emotions and the underlying psychic currents stimulated by the needs of your soul remain suppressed and drive you bonkers. Guest guest
Sat Nam, dear Linda, I also realize, that the urge for pills is increasing and increasing. I don't know if it is planetary influences or just a social phenomena - if you don't trust yourself, if you don't trust others, you try to get something which helps you - in this case chemicals and dumb soap operas before bedtime :-) The best armor for your self - do Sadhana. Regularly! Besides that: Believe in god (or infinity or whatever name you want to give him). Chant a mantra while dish washing. Smile to foreigners in the subway. Make funny faces with little kids. Consciously breathe. Correct your posture while sitting. Don't watch TV. Enjoy the presence 'good' people. Love your family. Prepare nice and healthy meals. Walk the stairs instead of the elevator. Make a weekend trip into nature. Stop drinking pop drinks. Etc. There are so many things, which you can do just outside of your yoga practice, which are 'life-changing'. You don't need pills and medicine to 'survive' in our world. You need consciousness and the ability to make the right choices at a given time. Sending blessings and light from Shanghai, Adarsh S.
