Guest guest
Sat Nam, Yesterday I witnessed a very painful and shocking scene. A steer was slaughtered on the farm where my horse is boarded. I went to check on my horse as it was snowing hard and found the steer strung-up and being skinned. Fortunately I just missed him being killed. In a way I guess you could say he was luckier than most cattle as he was slaughtered on the farm where he lived, because he had got too old to be sold as commercial meat (i.e.more than 30 months). So the landowner killed him and is going to eat him. He definitely had a "personality" and was a happy steer. I feel bad that he was killed in full view of his friends and "girlfriend", a young heifer. I am so sad today and I feel powerless to stop the suffering of animals. I went down to the barn this morning and sang Ra Ma Da Sa to them, horses, cattle and all, which felt a bit silly but helped me, but my question is, does anyone know of a specific meditation that helps lessen the suffering of animals and can also help me to come to terms with the suffering of innocents on the planet ? Any suggestions gratefully received, Blessings. Guru Sahai Kaur
Guest guest
Dear Guru Sahai Kaur, I chant Akaaaal several times for dead animals and give them light and love. This seems to get rid of their shock of death. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
