Guest guest
Sat Nam, Akkama, The first yoga book I purchased many years ago has some really nice facial and jaw yoga. 1. Chin to ceiling - Sitting or standing comfortably, tilt your head backward, lifting your chin toward the ceiling. This may result in your bottom teeth moving in front of your top teeth for the duration of the stretch. You should feel this in the bottom of your chine and through your neck. 2. "OW"- Say ow very slowly and carefully, starting with your mouth wide open in a big circle and working it quite strongly throughout until, at the final "w" sound, your mouth is nearly closed. Repeat this as many times as feels comfortable. 3. Alternate smiles- Keeping the right side of your face still, stretch the left side of your mouth towards your ear then reverse. You will feel the stretch in your face as well as your neck. If this is easier on one side, practice by holding one side of your face as you stretch the other, so the muscles can learn the pattern of movement. 4. Purse, pig and grimace- Begin by pursing your mouth, (a wide smile) pulling your lips together as tightly as possible. Than, keeping your lips together, unclench them forward as far as they will go in the shape of a pig snout (puckered lips) Then pull your mouth as wide as it will go, as if the corners could reach your ears. Do this 5 times. It is easy to get if you see the illustrations. 5. Forehead Stretch- Rais and lower your eyebrows in the manner of Groucho Marx. As you do this, your wil feel a strong stretch running form your forhead down through your ears- in fact, your ears may even wiggle a little. You can repeat the stretch as many times as feels comfortable. I hope this helps, PEACE LOVE & LIGHT TO YOU AND ALL, Guru Sadhana Seva Kaur Philadelphia, PA *******************************************************************************
