Guest guest
Sat Nam, dear Betty, yes, it is an interesting phenomena of our time: people HAVE everything but all they are is lonely and bored. To overcome this state of mind they (I'm not talking about you specifically ;-) start TAKING more things: drugs, pills, TV, food, chocolate, etc. Just a thought: Why not start GIVING something ?! Or DOING something ?! You could start taking dance lessons, join a choir, go to a yoga class or enroll for a literature class at the local university. There you have all - other people, something to do and lot's of things to GIVE (e.g. a smile, a chat, a hand, an opinion, etc.). So my advise would be pretty easy - whenever you search for the next chocolate bar, look into a magazine and explore, which 'sweet things' life has to offer today.... Sending blessings and light from Shanghai, Adarsh S.
Guest guest
Thank you, Adarsh, I have taken your advice and have enrolled in a 6-month Kundalini Teacher Course, and I'm scared to death. One of the prerequisites to graduating is to teach a public class. I have low self-esteem and am nervous speaking in front of people. I have very little experience with practicing Kundalini, but I believe this soon will change and I'm sure it will make a major transformation in my life, much needed. Thank you so much for your email. Guest guest
Betty, I hope you will share my experience when you teach class. I am (thought I was) petrified of being the focus of attention for any reason. When I taught my first class, as soon as I tuned in I was able to let the teaching flow through me. There are times when I feel as if I am merely the body and the 'teacher' is guiding my voice, my breath, my movement. Be the light! Guest guest
Joan, your words are very comforting and I will remember them, when I do take class. I had to withdraw because I found I will have no job, no plan for future, financially... for the now. and it just means I will do my practice with the Nirvair Singh Khalsa DVDs in the home and wait until next year. Still.. I REALLY appreciate your confidence in me... I was feeling very anxious. Such loving people in the KY family. Guest guest
Betty, have confidence in yourself. Know and understand that you are drawn to that for a reason and with purpose. If it is your passion, then surely you'll excel. You likely will find that that fear is a phantom that you will overcome once you get in the middle of the experience. Go with it and enjoy it! Guest guest
Sat nam! I completely relate to your lonely and bored statements . Like some of you, I am also painfully shy in many social situations. When I meditate, deep down i KNOW that we are all connected and part of a whole. But this experience rarely translates into the outside world. Do any of you know of a meditation or mantra that reduces fear; the fear of others and promotes feelings of connection with other people? Thank you for understanding! Tesssa

Guest guest
Sat nam Tessa! Keep-up your meditations, and this EXperience WILL Pervade Out/In-wardly in ALL You Do! *** When I meditate, > deep down i KNOW that we are all connected and part of a whole. But this > experience rarely translates into the outside world. Tessa, what works for me is The Adi Mantra, or Tuning in as is called ANY TIME You Are Afraid or need Help/Guidance in ANY WAY!!! OR Do Triple Mantra for that EXtra Boost: AD GURAY NAMEH JUGAD GARAY NAMEH SAT GURAY NAMEH AD SUCH JUGAD SUCH HEHBEE SUCH NANAKA O SEE BEE SUCH AD SUCH JUGAD SUCH HEHBEH SUCH NANAKA O SEE BEH SUCH SIMPLY; "I AM," or "AUM" or" LOVE PEACE AND LIGHT," EVERYONE EVERYPLACE YOU GO!!! BE THAT SILENT OBSERVER WITHOUT ATTATCHING!!!!!!! Is Difficult at first like anything WORTH-WHILE, BEcomes EASIER WITH PRACTICE!!! Another Favorite of mine: "Wahe Guru, Wahe Guru; Guru Ram Dass Guru x2-3--- He immediately is at Your Side helping and taking care of you! I usually ask "Bless us & Heal us, or Anything-- I even chant this over food while cooling to Bless It & All who eat it, etc! Then, "THANK YOU!" GRATITUDE Goes A Longgg Way! ***Do any of you know of a meditation or mantra that reduces fear; the fear of others and promotes feelings of connection with other people? Thank you for understanding! Guest guest
Tessa: I have learned from another aspect of my spiritual practice and also read here in this forum, that offering myself in service to others, without expectation, will help dissolve the barriers my ego has constructed which separate me from my fellows and from God. Any service, however small, is a beginning. Trust and be filled with love and light. Guest guest
Sat Nam, dear Tessa, yes, there are meditations around against fear and anxiety. I had a student, which used to have severe anxiety attacks and was on medication. Together with Yoga, a loving husband ;-) and with the help of a caring doctor (not the typical recipe-writer) she became free of drugs and is now a happy and energetic lady. She also looks much more sexy then ever (huh, hope my wife does not read this statement ;-) and she walks now with grace through her life. To my understanding the fight against fear and anxiety starts with acceptance and self-love. When you are able to love yourself (your SELF), then you are also able to love others. And then your aura increases, you start to radiate and the connection to other people happens 'automatically'. No need to do anything weird or special - just love yourself. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Tess, the only way to get through your fear is to go through your anxiety. Make a game of it with no expectation of return but having fun. Smile at everyone, wave at people from your car, accepts gifts, I sometimes just go hang somewhere and say nothing. But you needn't suffer social anxiety, there are so many people and experiences that will bring you so much joy. Gosh, for every rejection I recieve I know my tenacity will pull me forward. So have faith, go to a nursing home, volunteer, take dance, you know the Gabrielle Roth kind. Suffering from social anxiety and I am 46, just going forward everyday I tell myself something wonderful will happen. I hope this helps.
