Guest guest
Members of the Seattle Sangat have been spearheading the below effort Find a way to get involved! Sat Nam, DS http://www.speakpeace.org/ April 15 - 17, 2005 Speak Peace is a grass roots organization that helps facilitate expressions of peace within existing communities. We encourage four main types of expression: art, activism, spirituality and conversation, with the mission of bringing people together and helping to foster the experience of peace through communication and listening. April 15th - 17th is the inaugural Speak Peace Project. Over these three days, there will be events and discussions and expressions of peace manifesting in thousands of places and thousands of ways. Your participation can be as simple as wearing a button that speaks of peace, or as complicated as organizing and/or participating in an event. World-Wide meditation/prayer for Peace: The single universally orchestrated event is to come together as a world community at 1pm PST Sunday April 17th, 2005 and to take a few moments to "speak peace" with prayer, meditation, or intentional words. This can be done in an organized group setting, or be just a few conscious moments incorporated into whatever you might already have planned for this time. Possible ways to get involved: 1. Participate: Find an existing event to take part in, or make your own expression of peace no matter how small it may seem. Examples - put a message of peace in your car window for these three days. Instigate a discussion with your family about what Peace is and how it can be fostered. At 1pm PST, take a few conscious moments to meditate or pray for Peace. 2. Organize: Create a group activity such as a candle light vigil, a group meditation, a pot luck gathering, or concert for Peace. 3. Lead: Create a vision for a focus community and work with organizers to help manifest that vision. Example - Working with a school district, help create the opportunity for numerous schools to develop projects conceived by students and carried out by them, teachers, parents and administrators, perhaps culminating on Friday April 15th. Think Big! Get others involved. 4. Share: Please visit our website, share your planned activity, leave a message on the message board, and spread the word to others about Speak Peace. Visit: http://www.speakpeace.org Where you can search for existing events Or post information about one you're creating What might YOU create to help bring the experience of Peace to your community and your life?
