Guest guest
Hello all, First of all, I'm very thankful for finding this community. Even though I have only tried practicing alone for 2 or 3 months, I can feel a huge difference in myself. That is also why I'm writing! I have only been trying excercises for a flexible spine and strengthening the navel center from kundalini.org. About two weeks ago, my ears felt plugged all day after doing the exercises. Since that time, I have been reluctant to continue with the exercises because the energy has been getting stronger, and it feels like my head is hot and it aches sometimes. I still get the plugged ears from time to time, too. I can't seem to flow with it--I can feel myself fighting it with every ounce of my mind. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks, and have a great day.
Guest guest
What are your intentions (reason for interest in Yoga)? Please describe your routine in detail. Give us information about yourself. Age (date of birth), physical condition, kind of work (are you using your body?), etc. Sat Nam, Dharam marketmistaker wrote: > > > Hello all, > > First of all, I'm very thankful for finding this community. Guest guest
Hello Dharam and anyone else, My intention is to live the most fulfilled life that I can. I am new to yoga, and I am very thankful for this technology that I always doubted. Along with yoga, I have been doing some other spiritual work, like reading Guy Finley (The Secret of Letting Go), and I have benefitted from that work as well. In short, my life up until a year ago has been dampened or inhibited, filled with worries, and basically a faithless bout. I am beginning to see a new and brighter side to life, and I want to continue in my progress toward feeling more whole and happy--although it is a bit frightening, too! I think the work I am doing is paying off, because my mood has improved, and I want to keep it up. I am 25 (born 11/11/79), and I am in good physical health, although my hips have become very inflexible from stress and neglect, I believe. I work in a lab during the day, so it is not very physical. I walk quite a bit, and I play golf, in addition to the yoga session I have been integrating into my morning a few times a week. I was hoping to start practicing everyday, but I decided to take things slow, because of the energy I could feel in my head. In my routine, I begin by trying to observe the breath and relaxing. Then I chant the Adi Mantra for 4-6 times. Then, when I practice the exercises, I try to chant "sat nam" inwardly, and connect with all the energy in my body. I go straight down the line from the "exercise set for a flexible spine" kundalini yogaspinal.html (I have not added the additional components at the bottom of the page yet) I relax between each exercise and try and feel the energy circulating in my body. When I'm finished, I sit with my legs crossed and meditate for 5-10 minutes and feel the energy. The entire routine takes me about an hour. When I practice the exercies to set the navel center (NABHI KRIYA to set the navel center), I go straight down the line, as well. kundalini yogakyt09.html I try and do all exercises for the recommended time (the shorter, "for beginners" recommended time) and get into a rhythm, but I feel like I would benefit from slowing down some...this probably is because I have never taken a class, and I would also benefit from seeing a teacher demonstrate. Mostly, I have been meditating/relaxing at night, and I have had some short experiences where I feel like I am opening up the universe, but the mind quickly jumps in and blocks the experience. If you read this whole thing, thank you for your patience! I want to express that I do take this practice seriously, and I am not just looking for some hobby. I just felt like the energy in my head was being blocked by something, and maybe someone would be able to give me a suggestion. If it is not that simple, maybe I should take a class to see if I might be doing something wrong. Thanks again, and good day. Guest guest
Sat Nam Mr. "Marketmistaker", Thanks for taking the time to give me/us info about yourself, your numerology and your practice (but no name) so I am making the time to respond in kind. This energy blockage in your head just that, ...... and a whole lot more, which is always the case with Kundalini. First off, your ELEVENS are speaking tons about where your "head" is and what you are bringing to the table. You have three ELEVENS in your chart and in very, very challenging and significant areas. I have listed two of them below. The third area is in your "deep foundation" sometimes called the "balance" number. It needs to get proper attention in order for things to run smoothly and helps you keep your equilibrium and is important for problem solving. If this area is blocked in a person, spiritual constipation is the result which can manifest in physical ways, also. An aspect of the ELEVEN is it's inherent aspect of, how should I say it,....... sexiness, I guess. It's working with the same energy as the number Two (second chakra correlations), numerologically speaking, except it is looking for love in all the "right places". Sexual energy, like all of the other energies, is meant to be a personal responsibility. It is to be a part of our Beingness of which we could be acutely aware. Through a fuller integration of our sexual energy we can experience a sense of our own rightness in feeling and action. That's the bridge between raw attraction for something outside our self and being complete and self illumined or Saibhang (from the Mul Mantra - see below) Read the below to get a fuller sense of what ELEVEN is like. After that will be a couple of recommendations. SOUL OF 11 The SOUL Number is the core of your identity. It indicates your own internal relationship with yourself. Your relationship to the infinite, unlimited part of yourself. It is the key to tapping into your creativity and depth. You have a great internal conflict because you want to be the complete master of yourself, and you can't see how to do it. The only way you can become a master is to surrender to God, let God run your life, and know that God is the ONLY master. If you relate to and experience the inner wisdom within your own consciousness, you will know that you represent the Infinity incarnate and you will be the master of your physical universe and nothing will be able to bug you or bother you in any way! The solution is to relate to the infinite teacher within yourself, and to surrender to that flow of inner wisdom. In your highest and deepest consciousness, you are a Universal person. That is, the true essence of who you are is someone who can express yourself through all the ten spiritual bodies in all situations of life and in relation to all people. KARMA OF 11 Just as the SOUL number indicates the nature your relationship with your own soul, the KARMA number indicates the nature of your relationships with other people. This is the number that describes your 'test' in life... the thing you must break through in order to be successful in your relationships with others. A Karma of 11 means that your Karma is set. All you have to do is just keep up and go through it gracefully. You feel that you have no mastery of the physical realm, and so you tend to worry about money, your physical looks, and things like that. You want the prettiest car and the prettiest clothes and tend to be quite concerned about how others see you. Your test in this life is to master the physical realm and experience your own perfection. If you leave your neurotic self-identity, and establish your Infinite identity, then you will KNOW your own Divinity and Royalty, and so you will drive the prettiest car and wear the prettiest clothes not because of what others think of you, but because you have the highest opinion of YOURSELF. The solution is to remember the Infinity in the midst of all life situations. Suggestion set #1 This was given by Yogiji at the Men's course a few summers ago. I am thinking that it is #4 and #7 that make this set particularly good for guys, but I don't see any reason why a woman couldn't do it (especially if they need to love their inner Thatcher). The Navel work, Cat-Cow and Baby pose are staples for women. This is my routine before I shower. 1. Cat stretch 4 -5x times 2. Arms and legs up 90 degrees with LDB* (2 - 3 minutes) 3. Push - pull legs 18" w/ arms along side (I like to do this for 4-5 minutes. It gives me a real deep adjustment) 4. Cobra pose w/ tongue out and eyes wide open toward the ceiling (3 minutes) 5. Cat - cow 3 mins 6. Baby pose (3 minutes) 7. Triangle pose with alternate limbs held up for 3 mins. Switch sides (do your best). This is big for the male composition. It brings us back to something resembling Neutral vs. "testosterone poisoning". 8. Take your time for this last part. Massage the cheeks, then up the nose to the eyebrow and sockets, out to the temples, and in the ears and along the inner and outer earlobes and finally all around the jaw joints and jaw muscles. The jaw massage can be be done rather intensely. This is the strongest muscle in the body and is also where pain of any kind, anywhere in our psyche can be accessed and released. If you feel like screaming/yelling out loud, while pressing into these tight areas you're doing it right......and then go ahead and make some noise. You will feel the difference in your head. If your neighbors would call the police from all the screaming, then at the very least open your mouth to the fullest while pressing hard and moan or something. Subject your self and let the experience go right the into center of your head and your heart. Then rest for a couple of minutes before doing your COLD SHOWER (if you're not already doing this and want more info please search Archives. Use the words Ishnaan or Cold Shower in your search. A short search a moment ago produced several results. IMPORTANT NOTE: In doing your own search you must click the "Next" button to continue getting results from earlier postings. Kundaliniyoga/message/19559 Kundaliniyoga/message/15446 Kundaliniyoga/message/15948 Kundaliniyoga/message/15648 Kundaliniyoga/message/15649 Suggestion set #2 TO MASTER THE NUMBER ELEVEN: Make sure you chant clearly and preferably in the Amrit Vela. 1. Read from the scripture Siri Guru Granth Sahib every day, consciously, for 1000 days. 2. Chant the Mul Mantra in the 2 1/2 breath cycle. The Mul Mantra is: EK ONG KAR SAT NAM KARTA PURKH NIRBAO, NIRVAIR AKAL MOORAT AJOONI, SAIBHANG GUR PRASAD JAP AAD SAACH JUGAAD SACH HAYBE SACH NANAK, HOSEE BHEE SACH. Instructions for chanting it in the 2 1/2 breath cycle are contained in the book "Sadhana Guidelines" available from Yogatech. go/start.cgi/store/shop.html?showprod=P08001 3. Chant the mantra, "Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad, Sat Gur Prasad Ek Ong Kar", 31 minutes daily. Available in Transitions to a Heart Centered World go/start.cgi/store/shop.html?showprod=P01001 Make sure you chant clearly and preferably in the Amrit Vela. Suggestion set #3 Make sure you are allowing the flow to discharge downward. This can be facilitated by using the tip of your nose as the focal point for your eyes when you practice the yoga, pranayam or meditation. Keep it soft (9/10ths closed) but constant so there is flow. Also, One Minute Breath (20 - 20 - 20) for several minutes can bring a wonderful way to conclude your practice before tuning out with the "Long Time Sun". It gives your full being a chance to feel and integrate your practice and rewire your brain's habits. Use Baby Pose more often as your rest position between postures. When you relax, make sure you completely dis-corporate and SURRENDER!. Don't TRY to relax. Let go and let the yoga integrate on it's own. I love listening to the third song (Ad Gurey Nameh) on Peace Lagoon (hear a sample of it at go/start.cgi/store/shop.html?showprod=CD11006) by Singh Kaur during my private practice. It brings me into my heart which is where we need to be to completely dissolve any problem, any tension for once and for all, in our life. This works for anything. Try it. If you can loop it, that's better. We have to create a space of sacredness in our practice. This is so not just a discipline for the body, it about the core of your being. Lastly, what can I say - the importance of the Emotional work cannot be overstated. We all want a safe place to put/bow our heads, it's something instinctual and very natural. In cultures that value togetherness and not just the marketplace, one still feels a connection with others in a relaxed and "naive" way , and everyone has a place. In the West we have to initiate and cultivate this sense within our own bodies and minds and walk with it all on our own. The opportunities for fear (borne of loneliness) to creep in and "dis-integrate" our selves is greater. Walk lightly Learn the flowers Stay Together --Gary Snyder You'll get relief very shortly but you will want to consider learning Japji (for Head and Heart unity) and allowing more of the sacred into your life as a whole. Hey, I have to get in some work today, Sat Nam, Dharam Singh P.S. I've been where you are. I know what it's like. There is more I'd like to offer but my typing skills are abysmal. Feel free to call me at 508 376-4635 for clarity. >
