Guest guest
sat nam all, i hope this finds everybody well. i am on day 70 of an attempt at 90 days of kirtan kriya. i am wondering if anyone else has had the experience with this kriya of occasional days of very deep sadness. twice recently i have been very close to giving up, but each time i couldn't quite go to bed before doing the kriya...so...i am keeping up. but sometimes i wonder if this pain is worth it. maybe the sadness is caused by other things? i don't know. maybe it's a combination. probably. i just wondered if this is typical. it's funny: even if it is typical, that doesn't make it easier to put up with, yet i find we all ask this question so often! also, on a completely different note, i find that my hands get very very dry as soon as i begin the meditation. i even put lotion on and drink water before beginning, but still they get dry! is *that* typical?? (i don't mind that nearly as much as the sadness!!) sat nam, prem nam, sue in seattle
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Sue, Day 70! You are doing great. I am very pleased that you are doing this meditation. When you decided to get the group of women together to discuss Destiny of Women, I thought they should all do Kirtan Kriya and compare notes on their experiences. This meditation helps you reclaim your power at a very core level. There are always challenges and yours now is deep sadness. i have been very close to giving > up, but each time i couldn't quite go to bed before doing the kriya. * Your soul wants the nourishment of this meditation so it can shine. ...so...i am keeping up. but sometimes i wonder if this pain is worth it. * It is a question of suffer through these moments or carry unidentified existential pain with you your whole life. Yogi Bhajan used to remind us that he never promised us it would be easy, but he did promise us that we would make it though to the end. And if we kept up, we would be victorious. You might wish to chant Fateh! which means victory after doing the meditation and during the day when you feel like it. > maybe the sadness is caused by other things? * Maybe it is a deep longing to connect with your soul and the Divine and you are breaking through emotional blocks and programming from experiences this life time and others that you can't and don't even need to identify. There is no typical. Although dealing with sadness is common. So now to what to do. As you chant each mantra feel the vibration of the sound merge into your emotions, into the actual feelings in your body. If there is a thought then let the sound merge with the thought. Do not try to get rid of the thought or the feeling, just let them be soothed by the sound. Receive your own nurturing like a child would receive a lullaby from its mother. You can do this. You have the capacity to love your emotions with the vibrational frequency of the sound. It will begin to feel good. This is the technology of sound. It will change the programming from sadness to deep devotion. We can all so this we every mantra. Whatever we are chanting we can merge that sound into our thoughts and emotions. The energy shifts to the higher vibration. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur :+)
Guest guest
sat nam chris, deva and gururattan, and everybody! thanks for your replies about kirtan kriya. chris: i tried to find the messages about the kriya you mentioned, but i could only find sort of follow up messages, not the original ones. also: is the kriya for conquering physical pain, or all kinds of pain? because the pain i am feeling is very much in my heart. ow. deva, congratulations to you on your nearly-1000 days!! i can't imagine making it that long. phew. i like your phrase about "the soul becomes the driver." i hope that someday it happens to me too, it seems it would be easier! i don't really know who the driver is now! i can't seem to stop but i kind of dread doing the kriya - argh! gururattan, yes, our destiny of women group did all start the kriya together. many of us made it through the first 40 days and a few of us are continuing on to 90. it has been soooooo helpful to do it together with others, even though we only know each other online, and - as you say - share our experiences. we have definitely kept each other up; i know they have kept me up a lot! * It is a question of suffer through these moments or carry unidentified existential pain with you your whole life. Yogi Bhajan used to remind us that he never promised us it would be easy, but he did promise us that we would make it though to the end. And if we kept up, we would be victorious. You might wish to chant Fateh! which means victory after doing the meditation and during the day when you feel like it. oh, sometimes victory seems very far away. is it always assured?? really and truly? a big fear of mine: what if i stop too soon? then will the time i did put in, be wasted? i think i can make it to 90 days, but is that enough? * As you chant each mantra feel the vibration of the sound merge into your emotions, into the actual feelings in your body. i don't think i really understand this, but i will hold this thought and try and see what happens. a practical question: i have a cd of the mantra with background music; it's very helpful b/c using it eliminates the need for a timer. the cd loops the same 3 minute chanting over and over. thus, during the whispering and silent parts of the meditation, the cd is still at regular volume. does that make any difference? should there be silence in the room during the silent part? also, how important is it for me to hear my own voice? sometimes i am in a place where i can't use speakers and then i use headphones, and i try to keep the volume low enough that i can hear myself; not sure why that seemed important to me and maybe it isn't? you can see that i have been saving my questions up for 70 days, thus there are a lot of them! thank you for your help everybody. thank you thank you thank you!! sat nam, sue in seattle
Guest guest
Dear Sue, Thanks for sharing about doing the meditation together and making it to 40 and 90 days. > oh, sometimes victory seems very far away. is it always assured?? Yes. And everyday you have a mini victory by doing the meditation. So celebrate everyday your success. really and truly? a big fear of mine: what if i stop too soon? * Then keep going. We have to keep meditating to shift our consciousness. You can continue with the same meditation or you can change, but for results you must do something every day. then will the time i did put in, be wasted? * What you do is never wasted. > * As you chant each mantra feel the vibration of the > sound merge into your emotions, into the actual feelings in your body. > > i don't think i really understand this, but i will hold this thought and > try and see what happens. * You will understand by doing. Be patient, but practice. > a practical question: i have a cd of the mantra with background music; > it's very helpful b/c using it eliminates the need for a timer. the cd > loops the same 3 minute chanting over and over. thus, during the > whispering and silent parts of the meditation, the cd is still at regular > volume. does that make any difference? That is ok. But you might want to turn it down low during the silent part. should there be silence in the room during the silent part? also, how important is it for me to > hear my own voice? * It is best to hear your own voice. But do what you can. Just do it and be content with what you are doing. Keep going. You are doing great. Sat Nam, Gururattan :+)
