KY and depression

I was doing KY for 1 hr 15 minutes for days and days up until Christmas time. I

had been finding it a bit of a struggle sometimes, but carried on as it helped

me to enjoy the exercise aspect and stopped me feeling depressed.

Then two things happened in the lead up to Christmas. I had a food check which

said I should avoid dairy products, this resulted in me having a hormone

imbalance that caused flooding so badly that I couldn't easily carry on the KY

practice, and secondly I had a few sessions with a life coach to help me face up

to the mess in my home which I have been avoiding for a long time. I'm one of

those people who collects clutter. Even with a life coach I couldn't get the

job done, I was still avoiding it.

What relevance to KY? Well, I also realised that in the end, the KY was a part

of my avoidance. I felt quite tired with consistent practice and had convinced

myself it was the only way to stop being depressed and unfocussed during the

day.

So now I'm doing less, would love to go back to doing a good daily work out, the

hormone imbalance sorted itself out some time back, but I can't at the moment go

back to doing the full work out I was doing, unfortunately.

If KY or any yoga is a natural and healthy way to get 'high' you still have to

come down and face the laundrey or any other situation in your life, and take

action to begin a remedy.

dear vanessa,

your comment reminds me of the title of a book written by a buddhist

practitioner: "after the ecstasy, the laundry." TOO TRUE!! but it's

kind of funny too!!! maybe you can see the humor in it!
