Guest guest
Hello Siri Ram, I hope to find you in HIGH SPIRIT! In response to your question about the Pituitary Gland Series. This is one of my favorite kriya's. I have used it in classes a couple of times and the students generally like it a lot, especially the older ones (I have an eighty-year old lady in my morning class and she could do almost all exercises fairy well, with some minor modifications, of course) because of its mildness but strong effect . All I can do for you here is give you my personal experience of this wonderful series. I like this kriya so much because it is not as "aggresive" (or dynamic) as other kriyas. The postures gives us an excellent opportunity to deeply feel the movement of energy throughout our system and our relationship with the larger WHOLE. It seems to me the kriya uses the energy from the lower three chakras and systematically raises the energy to the higher centres; this is of course the general dynamic seen in most Yogi Bhajan kriyas. (I can see some structural similarities between this kriya and Surya Namaskar, for example.) The whole body and all the chakras are affected. But the general focus is on the sixth and seventh chakra and it has always been my experience that during, immediately after and the days after doing this kriya, the activity in Ajna and Shasrara chakra is hightened considerably. The effects this kriya has on me are mainly connected to these two energy centres; my sensitivity is enhanced, both physically and mentally and I have a greater sense of connection to the ALL. It is an excellent preparation for deep meditation and the kriys itself is guaranteed to get you in a meditative mood. You should encourage your students to really breathe deeply and most importantly consciously throughout this series and they will get the most out of it. For me, doing a yoga kriya is really a devotional ritual, and this series serves that purpose very well. I think it might be useful to incorporate this bhakti element into a class setting, in whatever way suits you best personnaly. Exercises like the modified Ego-Eradicator and exercise 8 and 9 are really good postures to deepen your sense of connection and humility. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to share this potent technology with everyone. Good luck with your first class and I am sure this kriya will be an excellent first-time experience for your students. All love, sat deva
