Guest guest
Sat Nam! This is just not true! Can't elaborate now, I'm off to work...but I will send along a chemists view and the chemical reactions of free radical oxygenation tonight. Don't confuse oxygen with PRANA!!!!!!! Love and Light! Guest guest
Sat Nam! What an informative bunch of postings this question started! Thanks for everyone's wonderful information, it's been fun reading. I wonder if there is also the possibility that the trainer was talking in terms of how much oxygen is taken in by the body. We breath air and air is only 20% (or so) oxygen. If you are very sick and in the hospital oxgyen will be administered to the body, and I think it's at a much higher percentage because if you are on oxygen for some reason your body isn't getting enough. I know that there was a recent trend where people were going to 'oxygen bars' where the air was filled with a higher percentage of oxygen than what we would normally breath (I've also hear dthat they pump oxygen into the air in Las Vegas casinos and that's why people can stay up night and day gambling LOL!) Then, after the trend was becoming popular it was said that maybe these 'oxygen bars' were not so good for you. Too much oxygen (percentage wise) may not be good for the body. I don't know about any of these claims or the science that would support them but I do know that I was very, very sick with pnuemonia a year and a half ago and I felt a bit addicted to my oxygen mask ; ) As I got better and didn't require the oxygen mask constantly I still didn't want it off, maybe it was a security issue ; ) I'd certainly be interested in hearing everyones thoughts on this! Guest guest
sat nam guru ravi! thanks for the explanation about oxygen and prana. but now i'm concerned about when you said: As people train hard, but irregularly, there is increased oxygen utilization which greatly increases the production of free radicals in the body. Athletes who train regularly have enhanced their antioxidant defense system and are protected from increased free radical production. does that mean that even doing kundalini yoga irregularly is more harmful than beneficial???? (i.e, breath of fire, or other exercises that cause one to breathe a lot). heaven knows i am hardly regular with my practice. i can't believe that exercise of any kind that is sporadic, is worse than none at all, but maybe it is! yikes!! thanks for your guidance! sue
