Sat Nam Ji's!

I'm shaking the cobwebs out! ha ha...Free radicals are formed when certain

molecules react with oxygen and lose an electron. A free radical is a molecule

with an unpaired electron. Of course that electron wants to have a partner so

the molecule attacks another molecule with an electron pair and "steals" it's

electron creating another free radical. This sets up a type of chain reaction

and further damage to otherwise healthy cells. Antioxidants are molecules which

can safely react with the free radical to "tie up" the upaired electron to

combat any further cellular damage. What the trainer may have been referring to

is the weekend warrior syndrome. As people train hard, but irregularly, there

is increased oxygen utilization which greatly increases the production of free

radicals in the body. Athletes who train regularly have enhanced their

antioxidant defense system and are protected from increased free radical

production.

Now about PRANA. Prana is much more than breath, or vital force, or oxygen!

It is the master form of all Energies working on the level of mind, life, and

body. The energy of the universe is the manifestation of Prana.Kundalini Shakti

develops from awakened Prana. Our prana reflects how we think, feel,

perceive, and breathe.Food is a vehicle for Prana. Prana is the deeper energy we

extract from food. Touch (tanmantra) is the sense through which Prana is

conveyed

(bodywork; pranic healing), Meditation opens Prana of the mind, Mantra

energizes it, and Herbs correct its movement. The 5 Pranas govern the energies

working

within the Chakras... although there are many levels of this so they can not

be put in one chakra or another. The ultimate source of Prana and Ojas is our

soul. Prana in its highest form aids spiritual knowledge.

Blessings and Peace!

Guru Ravi
