Guest guest
Sat Nam, I am sure that there are many other people on this list more qualified to answer a question about Sat Kriya than I am. However, I looked in Kundalini.org and did not find a description so I will attempt to do it justice. Sat Kriya is one of Kundalini Yoga's "greatest hits" -- it's a very powerful and widely popular way of raising kundalini in a fairly straightforward way. Directions: Sit in rock pose (on your heels) and raise your arms directly overhead, pressing against your ears, while you look straight ahead, eyes closed. Interlace all fingers but the index, which is pointed up in a steeple. Vocalize "Sat!" from deep in your navel center while you pull your navel center and lower triangle firmly up. Then vocalize "Nam" from your third eye while you relax the pull from the navel center. Continue for at least 2 minutes. I am up to 11, which is fine, but I know of people who practice Sat Kriya for 62 minutes a day. Sat Nam! After finishing the active part of the kriya, you must relax for at least as long as you practiced. Everybody is very clear on this, so don't blow this part off! It helps people integrate the effects of the active portion of the kriya. Sat Kriya helps develop navel energy, helps aid digestion, and helps raise kundalini -- you can feel it move if you do it carefully and enthusiastically. You don't have to chant loudly to get good results. I love it, and find that it helps me with further meditation. Good luck with it. Guest guest
Sat Nam Awtar Singh, Yes, that's right. You can also read about Sat Kriya in http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/radiant.html and go to Basic Kundalini Yoga Breathing (or) http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/worddocuments/Pieters_Articles/radiant/BASIC\ %20KUNDALINI%20YOGA%20BREATHING.pdf and Breath of Fire http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/worddocuments/Pieters_Articles/radiant/Breat\ h%20of%20Fire.pdf Another very powerful way to practice Sat Kriya is to have the arms nearly hug the ears, so that when you make the sound Sat and Nam the sound reverberates and vibrates back into the ears and cranium. After a while the flow of ojas through the body, brain and above will become so profound and electromagnetically engaged that it will become difficult to stop the mantra and pulling of locks. it will become difficult to disengage yourself from the flow, which will become quite automatic and very powerful, upward streaming. In this practice, you might start with exhaling Nam so that you hear the vibration in your head, then part way through continue the sound Sat, with a strong resistance with the tongue on the "ssss..." sound while you are pulling in the area of the navel and below, as the root lock will pull up forcefully when you release the "ssss..." into "at" completing the sound "Sat" With the root lock, you should also feel the whole compression of the muscles and ligaments along the lower spine squeezing the energy flow upward. The arms (palms together) and shoulders should also stretch up and slightly back as you complete the sound "Sat" Then, as the air is entirely squeezed out with the completion of the sound "Sat," you simply relax the abdomen and chest cavity area and, blocking the air from coming in the mouth by pressing the tongue lightly to the pallet) let the air steam in through the nostrils, which in turn gives the effect of feeling as though the whole crown of the head is releasing and opening upwards. In order to keep the spine straight, with shoulders pressing back, you may notice that you need to have a slight arch in the lower spine, which straightens with the sound "Sat" and leans slightly back with the sound "Nam" so that the spine goes through a continuous cycle of being squeezed and stretched upwards with the sound "Sat," then relaxed and vibrated with the sound "Nam." Again, in this version of Sat Kriya, the release of air inward through the nostrils after the sound "Sat." Sat Kriya works very well after a series of Kundalini Yoga exercises that develop electricity and voltage throughout the body, of which there are many such sets. In order to sustain the voltage, which becomes Ojas, the effect of Sat Kriya is to release the seminal fluids into the blood stream, which fluids then store and support the sustaining of voltage throughout the body and progressively into all the centers until the Whole Body fills with Light, and the mind turns inward to reflect the Self in the Spiritual Heart, and becomes consumed by It. We also have a simram of Whaheguru by Dya Singh, about 31 minutes, which we add to the mix sometimes, where, with the sound "Sat" we hear, as well the sound "whahe" and with the sound "Nam" we hear the sound "Guru" the overall effect becomes very powerful, a bit like the effect of trying to do "Long Ek Ong Kar" while driving one's car on the highway. (Not recommended) as the electromagnetic force-field that builds up in the body becomes very powerful. You experience awareness of the sub-conscious energies while awake. With time, this becomes normal, and the whole body/mind system opens to the experience yogi's call jagrat-sushupti, but it takes a while for the nervous system to adapt to these voltages in the waking state. It is confusing with the different description available. I asked that very question of Gurucharan Singh, director of KRI (Kundalini Research Institute) last month. Here's his answer: "Sat air out, air "sneaks"/YB in as Nam, ie smoothly without interrupting rhythm, but amount is very small and continmous." In other words: exhale "Sat" while bringing the navel point in toward the spine (the navel point is 3 finger width below the navel). Inhale by sneaking the air in as you say "Nam". Guest guest
Sat Nam, my understanding with Sat Kriya is that we ideally want to rest twice as long as we practiced it,or....at least a "minimal" as long as we practiced it... Sat Kriya is a complete kriya in & of itself, it is very powerful & one should build up the time with it gradually in order to prepare the nervous system. hope this helps (: Jiwan Shakti Tampa FL ________ DSL – Something to write home about. Guest guest
The function of the Aquarian Meditation (the three kriyas together) is that they form a kriya or meditation. Pausing too long between the parts will blunt the effect. Rest, but progress as well. Guest guest
ahhhh, didn't even think of them as being put together as "one kriya", all I saw was the question being asked about "Sat Kriya" I appreciate the clarification (: --- Karta Purkh S Khalsa <kpsk_teacher wrote: > The function of the Aquarian Meditation (the three > kriyas together) is > that they form a kriya or meditation.
