Guest guest
Dear Kim, Kundalini Yoga is ideal for high energy people. The following weblinks should give you some insight into the practice of the Kundalini Yoga that Yogi Bhajan taught. It's a yoga more like the type of yoga that one sees coming out of Tibet or as practiced by the monks at the monastery of the Dalai Lama, only, as you will discover, muck more expansive, as though the entire teachings of the ages have been transmitted. The main difference is that, whereas in the past there would be initiations and gradual exposure to certain sacred sets, taught by monks and adepts specializing in these areas, Yogi Bhajan made the radical departure to devote 35 years of his life to unload and teach everything, with the idea that those people that are willing to take up the Sadhana and persevere with small groups, or part of a whole group (3ho), or on their own, will in effect prove themselves, i.e., initiate themselves to the realization of the Truth. The Truth is always there, it is the Light of our awareness, single and pervasive. The Kundalini Yoga practice, once taken up is inexorable in its effect to transform the individual consciousness, dissolve the idea of separateness and finally awaken to one's True Self (Sat Nam). Kundalini Yoga is a means to attune oneself to "hear" the spiritual teachings as expressed by realized beings. These realized beings were and are in actuality themselves the Supreme Absolute Truth - God, all distinctions and separations being dissolved with the awakening, as though coming out of an amnesia. As Yogi Bhajan describes, the person becomes "zero" and abides as "One" - So, when we read or someone expresses the words of the Sages, Saints and Saviors to us That Truth, who we really are, hears Itself referred to behind the cloud of the wrong sense of identity we have formed with thoughts and impressions and bodily sensations to the sense of "I" awareness that animates the body, but which is always single and pervasive, the substratum of the Universe vast and small, like a screen behind a projected movie. With Kundalini Yoga practice, gradually, yet quickly, the impurities are burned off. The feeling of inward contraction and encoding of impressions throughout the body is discovered and rapidly gives way, and the Soul is released. Suddenly, the simple words, "That (Infinite Being) Art Thou (the individual unit)." are "heard" and "reflected" inward and we abide as pure (non-dual) being in our natural eternal state. Hopefully, these articles will shed some light on the practice and that you take up the Sadhana, and discover your Self. 1.. http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/kyarticles.html a.. http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/radiant.html (Radiant Road to Reality series) b.. http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/worddocuments/Pieters_Articles/TheNon-DualEx\ perienceofKundaliniYogaSadhana062705.pdf (understanding the ecstatic nature of KY practice) 2.. http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/sravana.html a.. http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/worddocuments/Sravana/KUNDALINIYOGASivananda\ ..pdf (a useful reference with some contradictions) 3.. http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/worddocuments/UnifyingTheoryfortheExperience\ ofGnosis.doc (Ecstatic Buddhism, as taught by Buddha) 4.. http://www.kundalini-matashakti.com/worddocuments/YogiBhajan%20articles/KUNDALIN\ IYOGAYogiBhajan1969lectures.doc (compilation of lectures of Yogi Bhajan from 1969) Pieter -- Mon, 04 Jul 2005 07:36:52 -0000 "kim_the_bombadier" <georgesand42 So how do I turn the volume down? So, I have what seems to be an "energy"-related problem. It feels to me as though there is, and has always been, just too much energy or "chi" flowing through me-- as though my spiritual "electrical cord" carried twice the voltage of most people. My inspirations (when they come) are all-consuming, my grief is incapacitating, my interpersonal mojo ("personal magnetism") is so strong that it gets me into trouble. I process things (psychologically) much more quickly than other people, learn skills twice as quickly, etc. etc. I have maybe a dozen stories (which might easily be coincidences, I know, but are good metaphors either way) about electrical devices inexplicably breaking near me when I'm really upset about something. The point is, I don't have the first idea of who to talk to about how to learn to consciously handle this. I really feel like I need help with this. My intuition tells me that the Yogic disciplines are the best place to start looking, but I just don't know who to start talking to. I probably need to work with someone, but... what kind of someone? Please FWD me to any resources (books, ideas, people, disciplines etc.) that you think are appropriate. Thanks a lot in advance, --K
Guest guest
Sat Nam All! I want to thank you Pieter for all of what you wrote about Kundalini Yoga and even more for the links you provided to us - they are really great!!! I have been doing KYoga for about 14 months, including a 50 consecutive day Sadhana stint earlier this Spring, and I have read a lot about it. But your writing is so eloquent and you clearly are highly knowledgeable about it - the post was terrific!! Thanks!
