Guest guest
Sat Nam, Steve I think that it is wonderful that you completed 1000 days of Sat Kriya. Congratulations! Brenda
Guest guest
Hello, Deva Singh, ajana6chakra wrote: >I'm up to 15 mins and eventually to 31, working on observing pain > > That's good. For me, the pain did pass as my legs, gluts, shoulders, abs and body in general got stronger. Be gentle with yourself, increase the time gradually but be persistent. Kneeling on a padded surface (e.g., blanket over a sheepskin on a carpet) is easier on the the legs than a hard surface. >How much yoga were you doing? > I do about 40 minutes of yoga to warm up before starting Sat Kriya. I include spinal flexes and twists, abdominal (3rd chakra) exercises such as stretch pose and an exercise to charge the magnetic field. Choose some exercises that work your knee, ankle and hip joints. >It seems we celebrated this last year, did you do another year just >for the 31 mins? > You have a good memory! I did announce completion of 1000 days of Sat Kriya in January, 2004. I have been doing Sat Kriya every day continuously since April, 2001. I started out at 11 minutes per day and later increased to 22 minutes per day. On October 17, 2002, I started doing 31 minutes per day. In January, 2004, I completed my first 1000 days of doing Sat Kriya. I have now completed 1000 at 31 minutes per day. >Were you using rock or easy pose? > I do it sitting on my heels (rock pose?). > And palms together or fingers locked? > I vary them. Palms together was harder at first, but felt better on my fingers once my shoulders got strong enough to do it. Fingers interlocked with index fingers pointing up is easier on the shoulders, but tends to cut off circulation in the fingers, especially the index fingers. Thanks for your interest, Deva Singh, and I wish you much success in achieving your goals for practicing Sat Kriya. Sat Nam, Steve Porter -- A. Guest guest
Hi, Tessa, tessa marshall-denton wrote: >Could you please elaborate on its grounding effect as im much in need of >grounding and i was wondering what exercises i should do. > > I first want to disclaim any pretense of being a kundalini yoga teacher who is qualified to give you advice on the best exercises or kriyas for you. Gururattan Kaur, Dharam Singh and others on this listserve are qualified to do that, whereas I am not. What I describe as the "grounding effect" I receive from doing Sat Kriya is as follows: Some yoga exercises and kriyas get you "high" -- they make you feel lighter, brighter, charged-up, expansive, free, exhilarated. Sat Kriya does not do that for me. Instead, it makes me feel grounded, stable, planted firmly on earth -- immovable and unperturbed by whatever may come my way. As I perform Sat Kriya, physical sensations of pain or discomfort may arise, but continuing the kriya and focussing on the kriya, I work through them, ride them out until I realize that though I experience those sensations, they are not me and they are not even really my body. In other words, I ride the kriya through to the place where I am able to experience the calm and peace of a truer self-awareness . Likewise, as I perform Sat Kriya, all sorts of memories, thoughts, impressions, aspirations, emotions, worries and self-images arise and compete for my attention. As I ride the kriya, it grounds me in a self-awareness that insulates me from the thoughts and emotions that bubble up and I learn not to let those thoughts and emotions define my self-awareness or my identity. At various times people have posted the suggestion to this listserve that a relaxation period equal to the amount of time spent doing Sat Kriya is advised for relaxing and winding down afterward. I have found that following this advice allows my consciousness to stabilize, consolidate and integrate the grounding experience from Sat Kriya and take it into the rest of the day. However, when there is not enough time to do a full 31-minute wind-down, I've found that the Sat Kriya energy can be very powerful when taken directly into the activities of the day. I hope this helps. Sat Nam, Steve Porter A. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I just wanted to follow up on the last comment by Steven, on doing Savasana after Sat Kriya, and doing it for the same amount of time as you did the SK. "However, when there is not enough time to do a full 31-minute wind-down, I've found that the Sat Kriya energy can be very powerful when taken directly into the activities of the day." I'm currently at 15 SK, and do savasana for at least 11 afterward. If I dont' then the energy is so great that I space out in about 3 days. That's how I know I haven;t done enough yoga or rest afterward. I found what Steven said very interesting, without rest the energy is so raw. The first day is ok, but if continued it gets out of control. The yoga/rest part is necessary for grounding the energy, or pulling it down, or it pools in my head. My take Deva Kundaliniyoga, "A.
