What are dreams?

I would agree with Awtar's saying that it is an extension of reality.

In summary, if something happened during the day that I had trouble

understanding or believing, often times I would have a strange dream and

if I took the time to analyze it, I would realize that in a round-about

way it had something to do with something that happened earlier in the

day that I didn't quite understand the meaning of and when I reviewed

the dream I could understand the meaning of what took place earlier in

the day and accept the feelings.

I think some dreams are created by the subconscious mind and brought

forth in a dream to allow us to know our truth or reinforce it. I think

our dreams allow us to experience our feelings and acknowledge them.

For example, I had the following two dreams the same night. I was

driving in my car in a parking lot and I saw a space that I was going to

pull into and before I could, this other person in a car, pulled right

in front of me and took the space. The latter dream, I was shopping and

my purse was in my cart and someone took it right out of my cart in

front of me. Often times we remember our dreams because we wake up

afterwards. The feelings were so intense that they woke me up. I had

feelings of shock, sadness, anger, denial...and finally acceptance. I

couldn't believe that someone would do this let alone right in my

presence. These dreams reinforced an incident from childhood. I had to

look at the bigger meaning of all this: People can take things away

from you, very important things, but they can never take your spirit.

It cannot be destroyed.

I'm 42 yrs old now and about twenty years ago I had a dream that seemed

strange and shocking to me. Later it came true. It really happened in

real life. The following is not a dream. I was conscious: At the age

of 17, I was with my first boyfriend in a car driving by an area of

houses that all looked very similar. An overwhelming sense came over

me, an "all knowing experience". I knew that I was going to live in

one of those houses. I questioned this after it happened. At this

time, I wouldn't have been able to afford to live on my own. And I knew

my taste, if I could afford a home, it wouldn't be one of those houses.

Ironically, coincidently, five years later I was dating someone

different and he picked one of those houses for us to rent and sure

enough I lived in one of those houses. Strangely enough both the dream

& the premonition involved this same man. He was physically abusive and

I came close to death twice. I finally gathered up my courage and my

wits and left him after two years. They say, "train up a child in the

way that he should go and he won't depart from it". I am so proud of

myself for departing from this part of my life that I knew.

I believe the above has to do with my sixth sense or 3rd eye. I have

not had many experiences with my sixth sense ever since. I would almost

welcome it back in my life. I would like to seek more knowledge about

developing our sixth sense and would be curious to hear from others that

also have this gift and what they do with it and if they did anything

in particular to bring it out of dormancy. I understand some people are

intuitive healers or can assist with missing people. I don't know why I

had it and it seemed to come from no-where and why it's appears to have

been dormant for a long time now. If you want to e-mail me personally

to share your story or offer suggestions, you may do so. Thank you.

My name is Teresa. In my experience the 6th sense comes and goes as it

will. I had a dream 1 week before the 1994 earthquake here in California. I

even dreamed the pattern. I was in las Vegas when I had the dream. When I

returned home, I called my family to expect the earthquake and the night before

it happened I called again to be sure they had supplies etc. The quake

occurred as I dreamed the pattern that a.m., I believe around 4:23 a.m.(about

the

same time as I had the dream the week before). Also have had flashes where I

believed a family member needing me 3000 miles away and it was true. I

cannot explain it.

I am an Advanced Practice Nurse and have had many intuitive flashes as to

diseases a patient had the minute I walked into the examining room. Somehow we

tune in to these flashes. I hope not to tune into any more tragedies but I

never know. Sometimes there are good things. No flashes in a while. Need

to practice more meditation to tune in again. I am new at Kundalini so have

much to do.

Good Luck and tune into the peacefulness which is sometimes hard to do in

this hectic world.

On another note about dreams...

Alot of us spend our nights processing our days. Ideally, if we processed

within the moment, rather than holding on and doing it at a later date (while we

sleep), it's said that we would need no more then 4 hours of sleep each night.

That's why meditation is great before sleeping at night, to get some of the

processing done, so you don't have to do it in your sleep.

My teacher has told us that for the most part, everyone we encounter in our

dreams are aspects of ourselves.....but he says every once and a while we do

interact with people on the subtle realm.

But once we develope enough awareness to be conscious within our dreams (as in

lucid dreaming) then we have the opportunity to begin burning karma in our

dreams, as well as when we are awake, because through that lucid state we are

free to make choices within our dreams, just like in life.

All light,

Sat Sangeet
