Guest guest
Greetings to all, First, I ask patience. I know this is a long message! I have been doing Kundalini Yoga off and on for over a year now, and committed last month to becoming a serious student of the path. There are no teachers in this area, so I have to depend on dvd's and books. I am not letting that stop my practice. For me, as I will share in a later message, the practice of this technology has been nothing short of life-transforming. I have committed to a daily sadhana, and as part of that devotion, am writing and walking everyday. Part of my path in life is being a writer, and kundalini yoga is helping me reclaim that talent. After being blocked for months now, the words are again starting to come. As is so much else.... My probem is this: yesterday, I did my morning set (working on the navel) and meditation. Went to work, came home, worked in the yard, and started a chakra meditation that got interrupted by the arrival of family. The meditation stopped at my base chakra, and I quickly let the engergy flow up and through my crown, and above, and brought the energy back down to ground myself before coming out completely. Talked to my family, walked in the yard, then bam! My whole lower back became engulfed in pain. I don't have any lower back problems, and never have any pain there. Just happened so fast. My back and hips throbbed. Moving my legs hurt. I limped into the house and got quiet. Breathed into and through the pain. The whole region is hot, tender. Breathing and going into baby pose helped the pain, but today, it is so tender. I only did meditation this morning, no exercises. Stayed home from work. Am trying to not watch television and the horror coming out of New Orleans. Lit a candle and said a prayer for all those affected. Now what? Do I not do any kriyas until this eases? I want to work through this injury, not let it stop my practice. Just do breathing and meditation? I don't have a teacher to ask, so I am so grateful for any advice. Guest guest
Sat Nam! (working on the navel) and meditation. In the future, you need to do spinal flexes and some leg stretches before doing navel exercises. Your spine may not have been prepared enough. My whole lower back became engulfed in pain. * This is not a random occurance. There was a block in this area and the energy was not moving in your spine. Also could have been a lot of accummulated stress. Breathed into and through the pain. The whole region is hot, tender. Breathing and going into baby pose helped the pain, but today, it is so tender. * That is good that is all there is today. I only did meditation this morning, no > exercises. Stayed home from work. > Now what? Do I not do any kriyas until this eases? I want to work through > this injury, * Do that with breathing into the area. And then start with very gentle stretching and then move to very slow movements. When you ready, do spinal flexes very slowly to warm up and loosen up the spine. When you breathe make sure the inhale expands the back around the kidney area. You may also be sitting too much. Stretch your legs between exercises and move your hips with spinal grinds. Guest guest
Dear Gian: First I encourage you to continue any kriya you want with one restriction: don't do anything to aggravate the injury in your lower back. But you can do anything by just laying on your back (or in any comfortable posture you can hold) and imagining, as really as you can experience it, each of the postures while you do the chanting and the breathing and the eye posture and the finger mudra... When you do the kriya this way you do it with your subtle body. This is a great opportunity and it will make you you more aware and sensitive and activate your healing. Also a few times a day, remind your back that you need it by doing simple stretches that allow you to feel just a little of the pain and letting what you feel in your sensations invade your whole body. In other words, because the pain is just energy trapped, consciously invite the pain to move freely in you and observe where it wants to go. Another thing you can do is use a tool called Kenkowave by Nikken. If you know someone who has this tool, ask to borrow it. It is FDA approved and heals and releases pain. I have tried it on back pain and got it resolved in a day instead of the 4 or 5 days such injuries used to take. Guest guest
Thank you so much to all those who responded to my cry for help. I used healing essential oils yesterday and took my body for a nice slow breathwalk. I share these details in the hope that others facing pain, physical and spiritual, come to know they can turn to the practice of Kundalini Yoga for divine assistance. I took Gururattan and Atwar Singh's advice this morning, and did my usual spinal warm-up in slow motion. Did my set, part of it laying down on my back, and visualized those movements that seemed too much. Breathed into the space, and during meditation, asked that pain what block it represented, what was it trying to say, what did I need to hear from it. It told me many things, and then, moved up my body, and released. It moved through me on an "ahhhhh" breath and spoke truths as it passed. As always, the work meets us more than half way. This work also never fails to show me that we are holographic beings- -by working on the mind and spirit, we work on the physical plane. By working on the physical body, we work on the other subtle bodies. We can't learn this just by reading, just by thinking, but by DOING the work. Everyday. No matter the circumstances. The blessings come. Wahe Guru! Guest guest
Sat Nam Gian, My response below is perhaps akin to concentrated orange juice. Mix with water. riverwitch7 wrote: > Greetings to all, > > First, I ask patience. After > being blocked for months now, the words are again starting to come. > As is so much else.... First off, this phase is very temporary. Your practice, all these months, has been building up your confidence, your self value and your capability to take on a new (and old) challenge. The arrival of your family (other people) prompted a response in you which is usually pushed down but this time you didn't push it under because you don't need to do that anymore. You're getting quicker and are now not allowing some "instinct" (too much consideration?) to beat you to your natural flow. There's been is a quality in this relationship and, very likely, many others that you are now free to acknowledge and embrace for your growth, now that it's on the surface. It's a biggie! It's for you to sort through and your body (your Psyche) is saying it's ready to be rid of this quality of "burden". White Tantric Yoga would be one of the best things for you to do. Is there a course anywhere near you this weekend?? ( http://whitetantricyoga.com/schedule.htm ). You've done the work...., now the next step is what Yogi Bhajan once called the "cosmetology". How to walk and talk in the world of people with the fruits of your practice fully integrated and this would include courage. (what is your full birthday info??). If a White Tantric course isn't available you can try Tratakam meditation. Please use the archives at Kundaliniyoga/messages ( use search words Tratik, Tratakam, Tantric photo). Also, never cut your hair and this includes the ones on your legs as it harms the Radiant Body (courage) which is key for a sense of courage in the world around you. In the short term, simply lying on your back with your knees to your chest and arms wrapped around them would be very helpful and relaxing. Do this for anywhere from a couple of minutes to 11 minutes. Lay out afterward. See one other prescription below. Your caterpillar is about to become a butterfly Peace, Dharam Singh Millis, MA > > > Talked to my family, walked in the yard, then bam! My whole lower > back became engulfed in pain. I could barely breath due to the pain. Stretching was out of the question! I also didn't have the time to stay home and rest like I probably should have, due to work and schedule obligations. I was also unable to do any yoga at all due to pain. What I was able to do was the "Aquarian Meditation" (directions below). This is a powerful way to re-align your spine from within your own being deep within your core energy. When we are pulled off of our center and not relating to our "essence", it seems to me our spine (con-fidence or with Fidelity) suffers on more than just an energetic level. I practiced the "Aquarian Meditation" before going off to work and was able to function pretty well throughout the day. This practice brings you into yourself very deeply and to the point that the physical body wasn't dictating the score. The pain itself was even an afterthought. A consistent practice WILL WORK MIRACLES! Be gentle. Even once you pain has subsided remember that the healing process is taking place. The key words are "Rest it, Don't Test it". Also, don't forget the emotional work. Feel and allow anything that may come up. Watch "The Color Purple" if you feelin' kinda empty. I would also highly suggest that you came into Baby Pose (sitting on the heels and the forehead to floor with arms alongside your body) for several minutes after Sodarshan (#3) and before the One minute Breath. Then completely layout after all this for another 11 minutes. Feel free to call me for more on this 508 376-4635 Also, acute pain can be relieved by laying on your back and bringing your knees to your chest and holding this with the arms around the knees. This can be done for many minutes at a time. Once during a White Tantric we once did this for 60 minutes but I wouldn't hold it that long unless during a Tantric. Eleven minutes should be good. Lay out afterward. It feels great! Also, work with his nutrition. Glucosamine and Condroitin (sp?) are good. Golden Milk is a no-brainer (recipe below). Sat Nam, Dharam Singh Millis, MA First, make sure to Tune In properly with the Adi Mantra. ( kundalini yogakyt03.html ) 1 - Sat Kriya - ( http://www.sahej.com/Sat_Kriya.html ) Do 11 minutes. 2 - then Kirtan Kriya - ( kundalini yogakyt15.html ) Do 11 minutes, all aloud with navel point pumping with each syllable. 3 - Follow that with 11 minutes of Sodarshan Chakra Kriya ( http://www.sahej.com/Sodarshan.html ) End with "One minute Breath" for 11 minutes afterward (20 secs inhale, 20 secs suspend, 20 secs exhale) One minute Breath integrates everything and one should consider following any yoga practice with it. Begin where you can and work up to 11 minutes for each part. After you feel comfortable with 11 minutes, you can slowly work up to 31 minutes for each kriya. Lay on your back at then end for 11 minutes with a conscious, rejuvenating breath at the navel, releasing from the brow point Golden Milk Golden Milk is a drink, which is a great help for stiff joints, and is a source of lubrication for the system. This is the recipe used by practitioners of yoga who have creaking joints, lots of cracking, and pain in the knees and back from sitting in a cross-legged position. It is also really great for those who simply have a need for a deep, healing sleep. Your sleep may be so rejuvenating that your voice may be deeper and more resonant in the morning. The turmeric is good for many ailments including liver trouble. It is prepared in two parts: (1) Prepare a golden yellow turmeric paste by taking a 1/4 cup of turmeric powder to 1/2 cup of pure water and simmer for 8 minutes. It will form a thick paste. There is an important reaction that takes place at 8 minutes. This paste will be used for the next 40 days, so store it in a jar in the refrigerator. (2) After the paste is made, once daily for 40 days, for each cup of Golden Milk you want, blend together 1 cup of raw milk 1 teaspoon of almond oil, sesame or any vegetable oil, 1/4 teaspoon of the turmeric paste as prepared above and honey to taste. While stirring on a low heat, bring the milk just to the boiling point. The mixture may be then blended in an electric blender to make a beautiful foamy drink. I recommend serving with a little cinnamon and/or a few dashes of nutmeg. Pretend you're at Starbucks. Guest guest
Dharam, Your response to me was so amazing, I printed it out to keep. Not going to add water to the concentrate, but drink it all straight up. I found a White Tantric workshop about 3 hours away one day this coming week. Have e-mailed requesting more information about times, place, etc. Am going to make Golden Milk tonight. Still haven't found the Tratik meditation in the archives--keeps giving me an error message when I search, but will find it! My birthday is October 7, 1961. Full spiritual name: Guru Gian Kaur. Sometimes I go by Gurugian, sometimes just Gian. My path to Kundalini has been in spirals, twists, turns, and a few really bad dead ends. Finding a way to connect with other people on the same path means so much to me. The pain is now just a slight warm, sore place. Did Kirtan meditation today after my kriya set. And yes, you are so right. Every day, I feel my wings stretching just under the skin, tickling the back of my throat. What's a little pain compared to being transformed? Thank you again for sharing your wisdom and kind words, Gian
Guest guest
Sat Nam Gurugian Kaur, I hope you had a chance to surf over to the numerology page I posted and tinkered with your numbers a bit and the interpretation that the system gives (for free) You have a Soul of Seven. Basically, what that means is you need to have balance in your seventh body in order to be at peace with your self. Your Seventh Body is your aura or electromagnetic field. With a strong body you are consistently in touch with your self whether you are by yourself, speaking to one other person or tow 10,000 people. You remain YOU. If the seventh body is weak, then you stop listening to yourself and start listening to the voices in your dialogue that were put in place by OPO (other people's opinions). By the way, the EGO is a conglomerate, really, of what we consciously and subconsciously have determined to be of value in satisfying the demands of other people. Those demands, for the most part do not validate you or your essence. If you're lucky you had a mother who was completely there for you and supported you in all your feelings and wants, both spoken and unspoken ( http://www.sahej.com/Godmother.html ). That would have given you, or anyone, a strong aura/seventh body. With it we give ourself freedom and have a sense of safety to feel what we really feel no matter who we're with or where we are. Without it we want to be a bit reclusive. You have a Karma number of Ten (October is the tenth month). Royal Courage is the Key word. All or nothing is often the mode. In the Karma position is has importance in the level of harmony in your external relationships. Tens occasionally have a bit of a combativeness to them. I think this is because in the progression through the Ten Bodies, they went the Eighth body, skipped over the Ninth Body and are now projecting the Radiance of the Tenth body but without the subtlety of the Ninth body. That's why the hair thing, to have a sense and integration of the environment and all that is around us ( tuning into your own heartbeat would be a good exercise do you have "Transitions to Heart-Centered World" ). To skip that subtlety would be "Pranic Insanity" and is not balance in the Tenth Body. Ideally one wants to be able to "melt" with everyone and everything, then the Radiance just happens. Everything is "lit up". With a strong Tenth body there is said to be a sense of a Guardian Angel. Also, when you walk into a room people will feel you walk and turn around to see who it is. To learn more on this I highly recommend buying/investing in a copy of "Let the Numbers Guide You" by Shiv Charan. His words on the Tenth Body are pure beauty. check it at go/start.cgi/store/shop.html?showprod=P12001 ( http://tinyurl.com/7zxmn ) Gotta run again, Dharam Singh Millis, Ma P.S. Many years ago ('78), I had just finishing a very rich Bio-energetic Gestalt Therapy session. I mentioned to my therapist that I was having pain in my lower back and she remarked, "Oh, that's another year of sessions". Get it? riverwitch7 wrote: > > > My birthday is October 7, 1961.
