Guest guest
Hi, I have ME (otherwise known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and Fibromyalgia (basically the same as ME but with extreme pain in the muscles) which I've had for just over 5 years now. I have started up Hatha Yoga again but due to my symptoms I find even the warm up poses very painful and tiring and can barely manage them. However I'm not totally bed bound and can manage the warm up exercises and go for walks, short cycles and general pootling about on good days, on bad days I'm lucky to get out of bed. I read a little about Kundalini Yoga and was interested in it too but am not sure if it's suitable for me given my illness. My symptoms vary from day to day but the main ones are overwhelming exhaustion following activity. Intense burning muscle pains, weakness and stiffness. Digestive problems, loss of weight, cramps and pains. Brain Fog (problems finding words, difficulty thinking, memory loss, slowness) I have problems with concentrating, retaining information and reading at times. Awful circulation and temperature control. Tremors and convulsions of no known cause. Heart murmur and palpatations when feeling exhausted or after exertion which have been fully checked out by a cardiologist who can offer no explanation despite it showing up on monitors. A feeling of general malaise and bunged up in muscles but it's more like blocked energy channels like a build up of toxins or something that slows the energy down, bad description but it's a difficult feeling to describe. I tried a Shiatsu massage for this and it cleared the bunged up muscle feeling and a lot of other symptoms for 2 weeks. Weird things going on with my red blood cells (they're abnormally large and my haemoglobin count is through the roof despite me being a vegetarian) which again Dr's are at a loss to explain. I have loads more other symptoms but the list goes on and on and gets depressing. So my main question is would Kundalini Yoga be suitable for someone with my illness and if so how do I best go about starting it and is there anything I should avoid or look out for? Or any other advice that might be helpful would be greatly appreciated. :-)
Guest guest
Hi, do you drink enough water during the day (24hours)? You should drink minimum ( >= ) 2.5 litres water (without sugar, alcool, caffeine) a day. Guest guest
Hi, Thankyou for the suggestion. I try to drink at least 2 litres of still mineral water each day without anything added to it. I don't drink any alcohol at all or drinks with caffeine as I have bad reactions to them. I have to be very careful with what I drink and eat as since getting ME I've been hypersensitive to caffine, alcohol, medications, most food additives such as sweeteners, preservatives and colourings as they give me migraines and stomach cramps even spices such as pepper, chilli, anything hot basically, will leave me crippled in agony and very inflammed for days after. Even getting stressed or having a rush of adrenaline will increase the severity of my symptoms. I'll sometimes have a cup of white tea which I believe has no or very little caffeine and lime blossom or chamomile tea with a teaspoon of honey in, that's extra to my daily intake of water. I tend to eat mainly organic foods that I tend to cook in a way that makes the most of the natural flavours rather than heavily seasoning them with the usual salt, sugar or spices. :-) Kundaliniyoga, "mb_1" <giuber@b...> wrote: > Hi, > > do you drink enough water during the day (24hours)? > You should drink minimum ( >= ) 2.5 litres water (without sugar, alcool, > caffeine) a day. > > Marco from CH
Guest guest
Speaking from experience (I am a 52 year old woman), I would highly suggest you see an endocronologist who specializes in the reproductive system and have a complete workup performed (blood tests plus saliva tests to see what is actually going on with your hormones which could possibly be the cause of a lot of your problems). Again, I am only speaking from experience, I lived with severe muscle and back pain plus many of the symptoms you have for many many years, Doctor's didn't know what was wrong, they thought it stemmed from my back which I later found out was not the problem but what I had caused back problems because of not being able to exercise at all. At one point, a coat was too heavy for me to pick up, I was in such excruciating pain. Once I found the root of my problem my pain is basically non-existant, most of the other symptons have been alleviated and I have built myself up to the point where I am now happy to say that I am able to to do so much now plus I have worked myself up to the point that I am able to exercise once a week for an hour, where I have not been able to exercise at all for the past 15 years or so!
