Guest guest
Sat Nam Jan! The third eye is the 6th chakra and associated with the pineal gland. As it begins to activate and open - it is a common experience that one sees an eye - or eyes - looking back at them. Your perspective in dreams or colors your personal life and relationships - will be seen through a 'new light.' You are moving into a higher frequency that enables you to expand your consciousness and see reality on many levels and dimensions. This can be a quantum leap in perception and can be life changing as you discard patterns that no longer work in this new higher frequency. Your total perception changes in this acceleration of time. Descartes called the pineal gland the "seat of the soul." The pineal gland is the size of a pea, sits in the center of the brain in a tiny cave above and behind the pituitary gland. It is activated by light and controls various biorythms of the body. In lower vertebrates it actually has an eye like structure and functions as a light receptor. Through research it has been considered an evolutionary precursor of the modern eye. When you "see" the shape of an eye and colors, particularly violet, the 3rd eye is becoming activated. When activated it becomes a line of communication with higher planes, a connection to the Divine. Don't get "stuck" there through analysis. These are just words, pointers, to the actual experience. Remember in the practice of Yoga, we sit with any experience, watch it as the witness and let it integrate, don't get hung up on an aspect of the process, journey. Through the practice of turning the gaze up and inward, the pituitary and pineal glands vibrate in unison, intuition is increased and Divine thought is activated. The headaches may be occuring becuse you are trying too hard. Don't strain the eye muscles, be gentle with yourself and with practice you will feel no strain but a sense of stillness in this pose. For the dizziness you might try visualizing a light coming into the top of your head and traveling down to the pineal gland and then exiting from the 3rd eye, in the shape of an "L". Follow the breath along the path. This works well for some of my students. There are many experiences that come as we practice this gazing technique and activate the third eye but they are not meant to be distractions from our purpose. Stay steady...Keep up! Let what ever is coming up, come up without judgement. Some of the thoughts that you are noticing are just coming up to be released, so let them come and watch them go, no holding, no pushing away, and know that your meditation is clearing your subconscious. Wahe Guru! Blessings on your path! Guru Ravi
