smell sensations

Sometimes when I am doing KY I feel sure I smell a sweet sort of burning odor,

very subtle almost like sage burning? Is this a common sensation?

Hi Jan,

Very cool that you're tuned into this sense (smelling). To the best

of my recollection smell corresponds to the 1st. chakra. Taste relates

to the 2nd. chakra. Sight to the 3rd. chakra. Touch to the 4th chakra

and hearing to the 5th chakra. (I hope I remembered this correctly)

Different tastes and smells will be indicative of particular states

of mind or of different emotions. I understand a metallic taste in the

mouth would speak of a fear. Sweetness is, more or less, what we're all

after. It's been called, poetically, "Amrit", "Nectar" and indicates a

level of Ojas. I am intrigued by this burning, sage like odor you are

experiencing. Sage is kind of sweet and funky, sort of, sometimes.

Personally, the smell of the sage desert in the morning dew is enough

to make me pack up my stuff and make a permanent move to Northern New

Mexico. It's pure magic and feel so purifying!

I often get a sweet taste/smell when I do Japji Sahib, meditate or think

"correctly".
