Guest guest
Sat Nam Yogijis, I have a request for the group. My Kundalini practice is sacred to me, but I am in the process of a physical "reclamation" project after years of neglecting myself, and feel the need to also give my body a traditional hatha yoga practice to fine tune the instrument, so to speak (to increase my ability to do the Kundalini mostly!). Years ago, I did a set of poses from time to time, but have lost that particular sequence. I am looking for a hatha practice that I can do in the afternoons, since my mornings are for Kundalini sets and meditation. Tried Power Yoga. Nope. Not for me. Tried plain old Vinyasa Flow. No again. I have to have a program at this point. Guidelines. Sequences. About 30 minutes in length and available on DVD. Something to tone my body and mind and be in sync with my Kundalini practice (which tends to sync my whole life, but that is another posting). I do sun salutations before my Kundalini (from Gururattan's book) as a warm-up. Anybody got suggestions for a traditional hatha practice available on dvd? Blessings, Gurugiana
Guest guest
Sat Nam Gurugiana, If I could only do one Hatha yoga practice from my DVD collection it would have to be Rodney Yee's Yoga for Energy. A close second would be one of the couple routines that Ateeka has out - she has an incredible energy! Good luck in finding one that suits your needs. Guest guest
Thank you so much for the info. I will try Shiva Rea's dvd. And the book by Shiffman. Think a friend of mine has the Sean Corn dvd, so will borrow it, too. Being in an area with almost no classes of any kind makes getting group experience and instruction so hard. But hey, dvd's are definitely keeping my practice alive as I learn my way through. Next year--doing the teacher training for sure. In the meantime, off to do some breathwalking and, ok, maybe watch some really bad tv. Guest guest
Gurugiana... Books can be so helpful...but a tape does put you there. I mix it up along with cds and yoga class. If your not shy ask at the library for the name of any fellow yoga enthusihests or where ever. You might find someone who can do yoga with you or teach you using the barter system. Guest guest
Gurugian, There are some great asanas on the Yoga journal website, if you'd like to use them. I also saw an interesting book at barnes n Noble yesterday.
