Guest guest
sat nam everybody! last night i went to bed late (as usual...) and was lying there waiting to fall asleep, when i noticed a strange sound that i hadn't been aware of a moment before. it sounded like a refrigerator, or a car engine idling, or something - like a machine noise, a humming sort of noise, just a constant buzz/hum, like a computer fan or some such. it wasn't too loud, and i thought it wouldn't keep me from falling asleep, but i couldn't figure out what it was and got out of bed a few times to walk around the house, open the door and listen outside, press my ear to the walls, look under the bed, etc. etc. still couldn't figure out what it was! it seemed to be loudest in the corner of my room where my bed is, but maybe not....i thought: maybe this is it: i'm finally going crazy! ick!! i tried sticking my fingers in my ears to see if the sound was in my head, but it got quieter when i did that so i thought the sound was outside of me. this morning i told a friend this story and she told me of a similar experience she had in the wilderness of colorado, far from any electricity of any kind. she had heard that sound on other occasions too. she decided it's the ohm current! we agreed that it isn't a particularly pleasant sound/experience!! has anyone else ever had this kind of experience? what do you all think it might be? it was kind of irritating! haha! wahe guru!! xxxoo, sue in seattle, where apparently things are buzzing!! or at least, last night they were. ;{
Guest guest
Sat Nam, had a similar experience last week ... Tues night/Wednesday morning as I was trying to get to sleep. A rapid clicking sound in my left ear (I'm deaf on the right side) at first I thought it was a racing pulse but that was easily checked. It did sound mechanical though, but I was wilderness camping at the time and the only "machine" I had nearby was my digital watch. I finally concluded that it was a fatigue induced muscular twitch since I had been "working" pretty hard the two previous days, out in the forest hacking a trail. If you get any more insight on it I'd like to hear. Haven't had anything similar before or since.
Guest guest
Sat Nam, What you are hearing is the sound current. At different stages of consciousness, it manifests as different sounds. For example, machinery sounds....humming, water sounds, buzzing, high pitched sounds, bells, naturey sounds etc etc. The highest form of meditation, is to meditate directly on the sound current and it becomes your "highway to Heaven". Initial stages of meditation begin with chanting outloud to get your personal energy going and hopefully from there you open to a flow of universal energy........once that happens you can meditate on the mantra mentally (which becomes a new challenge, because your mind will very strongly want to take over, as soon as you go silent with the mantra repetition). >From there the next step is to meditate directly on the sound current as it arises in your head....and this is even more challenging.....because ulitmately you are connecting with the direct line to God consciousness...so naturally, huge resistance will arise....unless you happen to be fully enlightened! Ha ha! Then it'll be a breeze! When you become aware of the sound current coming up in your life, it is usually feedback that you need to begin meditating on it. If you're lying in bed and you begin to hear it....just plug your ears and listen either with your right ear or in the center of the head to whatever subtle sounds are present and practice staying completely present with that sound. Your mind will want to take you into thinking and going off....so it takes alot of discipline to stay with it and meditate directly on that sound. This is the most challenging form of meditation, but it is also the most transformational form. It helps you to release your attachments and to meditate directly on the Source. Most of our meditation is spent meditating on our limitations and how to move through them...or how to transform our obstacles in life. But once you master that process...then you need no longer to meditate on your limitations.....the time comes to meditate directly on your essence/the Source. This form of meditation has the ability to take you all the way to the Source...it is not limited in anyway. Obviously, I love the topic and have quite abit to say about it. I find transformation fascinating and I love learning about all the intricasies around how it occurs. Guest guest
Sue: You want to hold on to something the sound is trying to take away. That's what's irritating. You don't need it anymore. Let the sound go through you, relax, and let it take away whatever it takes away. You will never lose what's truly yours. Guest guest
Given that there is nothing wrong with your ears, that sound is the shabd, the unstruck melody which has different frequencies and thus can be heard as different sounds. Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone. For the purpose of a scientific explanation I am writing this. The sound you are hearing is the sound of the electromagnetic fields around you. Your Aura's are one of these fields. Everything as you well know has these electrical fields. When you are in a place of nature you may here these sounds louder or more frequently. In places of nature these EMFs are pretty in tune with one another. Whereas in populated areas people tend to bring conflicting energies together causing disharmony. It is usually a little harder to hear these sounds in these areas because your trying to tune in to several different sounds at once (conciously or subconciously). A psychics definition of what you are achieving is called, "Clairaudience," or "Clear Hearing." It is the ability to hear things in the spiritual world. Everyone is right to suggest meditating on these sounds. It will enable you a great deal of spiritual control. Finally, to hit on one more aspect. The sounds sometimes sound mechanical, buzzing or man made. Sometimes they sound natural and you can tell they are natural. When the sounds don't sound natural see if you can decipher what is making those sounds. The spirit world is not so different from our own. Sometimes similiar sounds are created from the spirit world. During meditation let your imagination take you on the journey instead of controlling your imagination. This will take a great deal of focus. It is very similar to first learning to control your mind. Watching the thoughts but not taking part. Now try to hear a single sound and watch for incoming pictures (Not thoughts) without taking part in it. Sat Nam May Love and Health be with all. Guest guest
"This is the glitter at the bottom of the ladder. These hallucinations, psychism, and nerve weaknesses mean nothing. If a student practicing Kundalini Yoga is very blocked up in the spine and pranic nadis, he may have a one-time experience when the channels are cleared. But that is one time, brief, and does not disrupt anything. These other causes are when the nerves have not been prepared, there is no mantra, or breathing has not been practiced. The real measure of Kundalini rising is your consciousness from breath to breath and the courage you bring to your Life. These momentary flashes brought on by weakness have nothing to do with Kundalini." --Yogi Bhajan seattle sue wrote: > sat nam everybody! > last night i went to bed late (as usual...) and was lying there waiting > to fall asleep, when i noticed a strange sound that i hadn't been aware > of a moment before. it sounded like a refrigerator, or a car engine > idling, or something - like a machine noise, a humming sort of noise, > just a constant buzz/hum, like a computer fan or some such. it wasn't > too loud, and i thought it wouldn't keep me from falling asleep, but i > couldn't figure out what it was and got out of bed a few times to walk > around the house, open the door and listen outside, press my ear to the > walls, look under the bed, etc. etc. still couldn't figure out what it > was! it seemed to be loudest in the corner of my room where my bed is, > but maybe not....i thought: maybe this is it: i'm finally going crazy! > ick!! i tried sticking my fingers in my ears to see if the sound was in > my head, but it got quieter when i did that so i thought the sound was > outside of me. > this morning i told a friend this story and she told me of a similar > experience she had in the wilderness of colorado, far from any > electricity of any kind. she had heard that sound on other occasions > too. she decided it's the ohm current! we agreed that it isn't a > particularly pleasant sound/experience!! has anyone else ever had this > kind of experience? what do you all think it might be? > it was kind of irritating! haha! wahe guru!! > xxxoo, > sue in seattle, where apparently things are buzzing!! > or at least, last night they were. ;{ > > >
Guest guest
Sat Nam Dharam Singh: Nice quote. My own personal experience was that I had not done any yoga or meditation for about 4 or 5 days. Was just doing some real physical labor with no place to practice (or inclination since I was exhausted). I'm sure fatigue was a factor as well. I did change in that I "remembered" to chant or at least keep the mantra circling my mental awareness and that helped, no more noise. Camping is fun but it does force some compromises. The cold river was wonderful to dip in. Kind of reminded me of the Pecos Wilderness (where we had the last Summer Solstice before moving to Ram Das Puri). God Bless ... Guest guest
Each of the chakras and all of the higher centres in the brain have their own sound. If the energy is imbalanced it will be heard too much on the left or right, rather than in the centre, and will become uncomfortable. If you actually learn to meditate on that sound, rather than develop a negative belief system around it, the energy will balance, and the sound will draw your consciousness into a deeper and deeper level of transcendence. The yogi Yogananda, stated that listening to the sound current in this way brought him more spiritual growth than anything else. Yogi Bhajan called it inner thunder. However, it is a delicate energy and the ego-mind may rebel very strongly. The bell, thunder and flute sounds have been spoken of by spiritual systems across the world, since the beginning of time.
