thanks for the insight....question about counseling and yoga

Thank you very much for your insight. I do appreciate it :-) Also, I

have noticed greater lightness since reading your post and thinking

about what's really important for me.

 

The work that brings me the greatest joy is teaching yoga, but I also

really like counseling people.....does any other yogis on this listserv

do counseling? If so, do you sometimes recommend KY to clients who

might be fairly straight in their backgrounds and expectations of

counseling?

I do counseling. The people who ask me to counsel them usually already do

yoga. When they don't do yoga

 

and I know yoga would be right for them, I ask if they wouldn't be willing

to try something new with me. I teach them.

 

We do it together. They usually say sure! Who would not answer yes to trying

something new when they have probably already tried many

 

things that have not worked before? And when I do it with them they can't

help but do it. It's about being clear in your mind that

 

you know what you are doing. They will follow you. If they don't, then go to

plan B: there are many solutions to all problems.

Dear Awtar,

 

I mean Sept. 2, 1956.

 

Speaking of counseling, I am looking forward to beginning work at a

counseling center on a fee-for-service basis in the next few weeks. I

often think "that person would definitely benefit from yoga..." but I'm

less likely to try and "convince" them of this insight. I say it once

and let it go.

 

Folks coming to see me on a paying basis might be a different matter

though...I'll have to see!

 

Thanks for your support -- I'm eager to hear what insights you might

offer re. the astrology. I would love to speak to you over the phone

sometime if that doesn't seem like too much of an intrusion.
