Guest guest
Sat Nam Ji, I've seen this question asked several times on the list, so I thought I'd add my $0.02... The ears are one of the main sites of vata dosha, and an imbalance will result in the ringing in the ears. Vata dosha is intimatly connected to the perception of sound. Rest, vata-reducing measures according to constitution, and little warm sesame oil in the ears (provided there's no previous history of infections, etc) should take care of that. Vata gets aggravated amongst other things by stress, overexcertion, cold/dry/windy weather, bitter/pungent/astringent food (coffee!), flying, etc. The universal Naad on the other hand is related to the heart chakra and will mostly manifest in the right ear (as the nadi leading to the left one is of a different kind). The former will arise in a situation of stress, while the later is a meditative state. It's blissful to meditate on, while unbalanced vata is just frizzy prana.
