Guest guest
Sat Nam, I am a new member. What is the meaning of "Bound lotus". I have weak knees, hips and leg-muscles. I like to know any yoga practice will help me to strengthen my joints and muscles. Thanks for all the help. With many regards, K Kumaran
Guest guest
Dear K.: Use a more personal alkaline diet (free of acid producing effects to you, free of foods you may be allergic to) to strengthen your joints and get rid of arthitis or other weaknesses. Yogis use turmeric to keep their joints strong and flexible. Make sure you simmer turmeric powder for 8 minutes or so before consumption. Turmeric can be used in many meals. Healthy examples are: 1) rice, mung beans and greens 2) golden milk A great exercise for the knees is: Stand with legs slightly apart. Cross arms over chest holding oposite arms just above elbows. Maintaining your balance with care, lift your right foot slightly, then lift the right knee up so you can bring your right heel to meet the left side of the left knee. next bring you rright foot to slightly off the ground/floor. Finally bring it backon the ground/floor and balance your weight on both feet. The entire 4 count cylce should take about 4 seconds. Do the right side for 3 mins, then switch to the left side for 3 mins as well. There's a lot of stuff in our joints and some of that stuff is emotional: Knees tend to hold stuff related to relationships. You can strengthen them by looking at which relationship(s) is (are) most challenging to you right now and find ways to make peace within yourself with each of them. Hips tend to hold stuff related to your foundation in life. All in all for your knees, hips and leg muscles, I would encourage you to go out in nature and go for walks. That would be the best yoga for you in my opinion, meaning if you do it like a meditation with complete awareness to your motion and what happens in your body as you do it. A good investment for you might be: Breathwalk by Gurucharan and Yogi Bhajan. Best wishes & blessings, Awtar Singh Rochester, NY
