Guest guest
Sat Nam, I am not aware of it ever being anything but white in color, or coming from a plant, or going by any name other than Potassium Alum. Karta Purkh of KC has seen it in it's rawest form in Amritsar, India. If he says it was beige than I can flow with that. My source is Harbhajan & Rajinder in Taos, NM I pay $50 for a five year supply which weighs five pounds. Guest guest
It was back in '80 on my first visit to India. (Ny memory may not be quite perfect since I suffered from extremes of bliss as well as an unhealthy dose of amoebic dysentery) Someone from the nivas took me to a back alley dealer in spices and herbs and that was what he came up with when I asked about alum. I had quite a time getting that and the sugar prasad from the Siri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) back through US Customs. These days I buy from Harbhajan S too! Good brushing and deep gagging!
