Guest guest
Sat nam, I just started doing Kundalini again after an absence. I do about 1 hour in the morning of the basic set, and today I tried to do 62 min of chanting but only got thru about 10. Afterward, I feel wonderful, calm and brave and confident. But as the morning advances (I work from 2 pm to 5 pm) my old trepidation and fear advance and I feel as if I lose the yoga feeling. I feel almost sick to my stomach from fear. I have a stressful job, and other stressors in my life, but my question is - do you have advice how I can 'hold on to' the feeling of being brave etc.. Maybe doing 62 min of chanting to the CD tape? I remember that used to make me feel good. Any other thing? Some meditation perhaps that I should do when the fear starts? Thank you very much. Guest guest
Dear Kartar Kaur: You are asking us the million dollar question! When we live our deepest dream, we are bound to face our deepest fear! Here's a time to look at your dream. Is the work you do that you talk about, between 2pm-5pm feeding your deepest dream? Or is it going against it? See: Why try to do yoga to help you through something that may not be for you? So you need to know first, is this for you? On the other hand, if this work brings fear because it is helping you fulfill you deepest dream. then welcome! Embrace the fear instead of fighting it; feed your faith not the fear. Notice the fear but know it is not you! There is a meditation to remove fear of the future in the manual Self Knowledge compiled and edited by Harijot Kaur. But the best is to become aware of the sensations of the fear and not stay stuck in the analysis, or judgment that it is fear. Go ahead and feel the sensations of it and let the sensations tell you what it is really about. you may now feel some hurt, then you can heal it by experiencing the hurt completely. Some guidance with someone who has done this kind of work may be helpful. Blessings and best wishes, Awtar S. Rochester, NY
Guest guest
Dear Kartar Kaur: There may be an other way. Fear may also be dealt with by finding your inner courage that knows how to respond to the fear. I know someone who was dyslexic and she had never read a whole book. She was asked to read a script over the phone by someone who did not know about her problem. She failed miserably and he made fun of her. She was ready to leave and he said to her: "You give up that easy?" Such anger came over her. She came back and did 10 phone calls perfectly well, her dyslexia had completely disappeared when her anger gave her access to her inner courage! You have to be willing to get out of "poor me" or victim mode. . . and give yourself permission to fly! Blessings and best wishes, Awtar S.
