What we hold in our Hips

I was doing a hip opening excersize, I am unsure of the name, but you

sit in easy pose and then put one foot across your opposite knee and

hold that position for a minute or so, and then you go into bridge,

while keeping your foot on your knee.

I have done this successfully for several months but the other day, as

I held the first position opening my hips up, I wanted to cry...not

cause it hurt but for some unknown reason, it made me feel scared and

I wanted to cry.

Also, when I am going back into Camel Pose when you are at the lowest

point and it is really streatching across your pelvic area, I get the

same experience of fear.

Recently I have started eating a cleansing diet, lots of raw fruits

and vegetables and juicing. I have almost completely stopped eating

meat and have not cooked anything other than tea or soup for about a

month and half know. I don't know if the diet is making me more

sensitive, or if my yoga work is getting to deeper muscles or what.

So all this is to really ask, What do we, Men and Women, hold in our

hip areas. Are their other excersizes for the chakras you can

recommend to assist with working on this overwhelming feeling I have

to cry when opening my hips, and what mantras would you recommend to

help me find out the source of my pain (is it pain, sorrow, lose?),

and release it.

Thanks, I love reading this list, you are all so helpful.

Coincidences abound. I was introduced to this asana (fire log pose was

one name) just last night in class, saw it this evening in Yoga Journal

and now read your query. I did not experience any overt emotional

feeling until today when it felt as if every nerve and emotion was raw.

I am interested in reading responses to this.
