Hello to all the devotees of Ammachi who are currently using this

resource!

I am a 35 year old male living in Glasgow in Scotland, and I have,

for the past year, been very interested in the thoughts and divine

power of Ammachi. So I am delighted to find this resource for

asking questions and finding out more information.

Sadly, I have only encountered Ammachi on one occasion. I

travelled down to london to meet with Shree Maa and a stranger

took me across London to see Ammachi. However, I was not

able to stay long enough to wait my turn for an embrace from this

beautiful avatar.

I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about the thousand

names of the divine mother? I have looked for information on the

internet, but I find it all a little vague. Where can the names be

found, and should they all be recalled to memory before being

chanted?

Love to everyone from Food of Love.

Om Namah Shivaya,

At Amma's website www.ammachi.org, they sell a book called "The Thousand

Names of the Divine Mother, Sri Lalita Sahasranama With Commentary by T.V.

Narayana Menon. They also sell a cassette called Sri Lalita Saharanam, a

90-minute tape chanted by Ammachi's disciples. I think they also sell a new

interactive CD which teaches you how to chant the 1000 names.

Om Amriteshvaryai Namaha

Dear one, there is a website-- Mothersbooks.org, where there are lots of

great things available, among them the new CD ROM of the 1000 Names of the

Divine Mother, also called "Sri Lalita Sahasranama". I bought it recently and

it is great. One could certainly learn the 1000 names from this wonderful

resource, probably easier than any other way. The graphics, music, text,

everything is superb. There is a good book on the 1000 names available from

that site as well, which has nice explanations of the names. Normally, at Her

ashram in India, one repeats the names after they are chanted by a leader.

Many people will be seen chanting on their own, usually holding the small

1000 names booklet (not too many know them by heart). On tour, a single

mantra will be chanted after each name, to make it easier for the crowds to

take part. Mother will more than likely come to London this fall, so go see

Her again, and get that darshan this time!

Jai Amma, Eknath
