Om Amriteshwariyai Namah. My husband and son and I had the good fortune to spend a month at Amritapuri in January. We attended the Saturn puja in Trivandrum the first night after we arrived (were we ever in a strange state!). It was indeed very powerful. At the Ashram we attended archana (the chanting of the 1000 names) every morning before dawn and heard the bramacharinis chant after arati every evening. This is by far one of my fondest memory of being at the Ashram (of course, nothing compares to the wonderful darshans in Amma's lap). I was so worried about being able to continue the practice of archana when we returned. It has been very challenging, but Mother made a way for us. And for that I am very grateful. I hope Amma blesses you soon with a nice long stay at Amritapuri. Jai Ma! Kenna
Guest guest
Namah Shivaya! It was great to read Kenna's message about being in Trivandrum. My wife, Kalika, myself, and the rest or our group were all there too! We also did Calicut and Pallacad. The planet pujas were incredible. In Calicut there was a huge ring aound the moon during Saturn Puja with only Saturn, the Moon and Jupiter (the Guru planet) inside. True Amma magic. It's funny, but just after this discussion about the 1000 names began, my computer crashed (I'm using a friends right now)and I couldn't use the new 1000 names CD program. So I dug out the big 1000 names book and have been entranced ever since, the names have never had such meaning and impact on me before. Thanks to everyone for sharing on this subject. Love, Eknath

We were there together! Wish I had a face to put with you an Kalika. We didn't go on the Pallacad tour, but our son Dan did. Did you see the picture of Amma taken at Pallacad holding the teeny baby? Dan is in the background behind Amma's left shoulder. We must have been in Santa Fe together too. Were you at the retreat? This is such a leela thing, to be connected this way after being connected that way. I'm still buzzing from Kalika's story. I know what you mean. I started a new practice with the 1000 names, where every morning I spend time writing down one and meditating on it and hanging it over our kitchen stove. I too am using the book, and am learning so much! And I learned Sunday that the one other devotee in Madison who has been practicing archana since she went to the Ashram last year (she was there this past year too, scrubbing pots in the western kitchen every morning from late november to early february) is moving to Santa Fe along with her daughter and another devotee. So that leaves us! I've had the feeling all along that Mother wants these names to chanted all over the earth to help bring back the Mother. Perhaps this was her plan for us and why I felt so driven to continue the practice after we returned from India. Namah Shivaya. Guest guest
Jai Stephen: > On a final point, I keep wondering about the state of devotion itself. > Having been brought up Roman Catholic, I have the underlying fear of > 'worshipping false Gods', and I was wondering if it is right to worship God > THROUGH Amma, or is the worshipping of Amma a way of worshipping God? Or > is the word 'worship' itself at fault here? And is devotion a milder form of > worship? Hummm, quite the question. I'm tempted to answer "it does not matter as long as you worship". I.e. it is the state of devotion that is important (knowing that God is somewhere in there no matter whichaway it is). The fear of worshipping false Gods can only occur if you consider there is more than one. So, only see one God. Even if there are some false gods, the FEAR is worse than the worshipping of them. If we want to learn worshipping, what we worship doesn't matter. If we want to learn love, what we love doesn't matter either. We get to exactly the same place worshipping Amma as we would worshipping a gater. Obviously, it is easier to worship Amma. If you can worship a gater with the same intensity as Amma, you got it made! Aum Amriteswarayai Namaha! Peter in Swampland
