It completely defuses the conversation and leaves the questioner no where to go in a very gentle manner. And diverts the focus to wondering if She has an ego. Hummmm. I had the impression that when one is enlightened, the ego is dissolved. Or does it still exist but in a non-controlling manner? Guest guest
I think the ego in a true realized master is desolved, and it is the rest of us who are not "there" yet that can't completely grasp "non-ego" or Yoga (union with G-d). I think that how we see others depends on how much we are able to see "clearly" and how much of what we see is maya (delusion) - self introspection is essential. I think that is what Mother was relating in this story. "I also don't like my ego" ... of course, that is our mission in Yoga, to disolve the ego, if you are on this path then that would be the primary practice. The ego is duality, the ego is our separation from G-d - Amma was setting the example - it was not an admission of ego, it was an argument against ego, however "Oh, did she admit that she has an ego?!" and "Later again she ignored me" are admissions of ego (duality). When the ego is desloved there is no you, me, him, her, them etc. When unified with G-d (per Yoga), those concepts will no longer be entertained because they will not be relevent. Jai Ma! Reminds me of an old encounter with Amma Long ago I had a brief encounter with Amma in which I confessed to her that I dislike her ego.--- I forgot what exactly was the point what I had very opposing views about.--- Anyway I confronted her with my attitude towards her and said: I don't know if I can bear to stay with you here(in Vallickavu,India) because I don't like your ego. "I also don't like my ego" was her reply which left me baffled. Later another deciple remarked: Oh, did she admit that she has an ego?! Anyway in the long run I found out that it is foolish to expect her to be the way I like. She is a mystery with many faces. On other occasions she made tangibly clear that she knows my secret wishes very well and out of love played with me the way I wanted. Later again she ignored me. Good explanation! I don't think that at her level, Amma has an individual Ego, or separation from the Atman. She is pure, blissful Existence-- constantly in the Paramatman. Om Namah Shivayai.
