Guest guest
Om Namah Sivaya Amriteswari Society News - August 13, 2000 Brahmasthanam - Abode Of The Absolute Not long after she returned from abroad, Mother decided to construct and consecrate a unique kind of temple in a village called Kodungaloor, about four hours north of Ashram. This temple is called Brahmasthanam ( Abode of the Absolute), and it has four doors opening out to the four cardinal points. The installed image is a composite one, sculpted from a single stone, containing four different deities, one on each side. They are Lord Shiva, Devi, Lord Ganesha (the remover of obstacles), and Rahu, who in the form of a snake, represents one of the "planets" that influence human destiny. (In Western astrology, Rahu is the north node of the moon.) The Brahmasthanam, as conceived by Mother, serves as an unfailing refuge for the many who are caught in the whirlpool of malefic planetary influences. The idea of such a temple occured to Mother while examining the cause of the suffering of the millions who have come to her insearch of relief for their many inexplicable ills. Mother feels that the positions and movements of the planets and other heavenly bodies have a direct or indirect impact on human lives. The malefic influences are generally caused by the position and movements of the planets Saturn, Mars and the shadowy Rahu. She decided there must be some effective means to overcome the evil influences. Therefore, she inaugurated a pooja in this temple to nullify the ill effects of these planets and their periods of transition. Actual participation in performing the pooja at the Brahmasthanam temple ensures quick, positive results for the afflicted. If done earnestly and in the right spirit, no act of worship can go without its result. The poojas performed at Mother's Brahmasthanam temples, since their first inception at Kodungaloor, have been known to result in the purification of the atmosphere.
