The <bijas> (single syllable mantras) for the chakras are:

root: Lam (earth element, sense of smell)

womb: Vam (water element, sense of taste)

navel: Ram (fire element, sense of sight)

heart: Yam (air element, sense of touch)

throat: Ham (space element, sense of hearing)

brow: Aum (thought, extra-sensory perception)

crown: Silence (identity with Godhead)

Namah Shivaya, good to see these. A few years ago I found them in the

Sivananda guide to yoga and started using them in my energy work. No matter

who the work is done on, I have felt the special awakening and healing powers

of these bija mantras many times. Thanks for posting them for all to see.

They correspond to the true chakras from the Indian yogic system, and there

are many charts out there that will give people an idea of where the chakras

are located. But be careful to use a genuine Indian yogic system, there are

many new age interpretations of what chakras are and where they are located,

and these mantras are from the true yogic system, being given to us by the

ancient Rishis who divined them from the universal Mind after lifetimes of

intense tapas.
